Making the largest cut to Medicaid in history wasn’t enough.
Now, Republicans are working to end ACA tax credits that help working class families afford quality healthcare, ensuring skyrocketing costs.
They shut down the government over it.

After months of making life harder and more expensive, Republicans are now inflicting a painful shutdown on the American people because they refuse to protect Americans’ health care.
Democrats will keep working to reopen the government and address the Republican healthcare crisis.
After making the largest cut to Medicaid in history, Republicans are working to allow ACA tax credits to expire, which will more than double health care premiums for millions of Americans
We're fighting to stop this partisan attack on Americans’ health care

If Republicans are successful in ending ACA tax credits, tens of millions of Americans, including 46,000 Missourians in #MO05, will see their health care premiums soar.
See how much it might affect your family—and why I'm fighting to #ProtectOurCare

The president lied to the American people about his association with Project 2025 and is now using Russ Vought to implement this deeply dangerous and harmful agenda—which will gut federal services for hardworking families.
This has been the plan from day one.
This brazen corruption will hurt millions of Democrats AND Republicans that live in these states.
Meanwhile, the president and his administration are providing a $20 billion bailout to his far-right allies in Argentina.
How is this America First?
The president is doling out punishment due to his inability to govern.
It is the American people, Republicans and Democrats, in communities across the country who will be hurt by these mass firings and defunding of bipartisan programs.
It's shameful.

The American people understand that Republicans control the White House, Senate, and House—and that this shutdown is due to their inability to govern.
Republicans must sit down and negotiate a bipartisan spending bill that will prevent healthcare costs from soaring.
Wishing all those observing in #MO05 and around the world a meaningful Yom Kippur.
G'mar Chatima Tovah!
Republicans are happy to shut down the federal government, hurting millions of Americans, because it means they can mass fire more hardworking public servants.
It’s shameful.
My full statement on the latest Republican shutdown:
As the president and Republicans in Congress enact tariff taxes and gut the healthcare of American families, prices are rising, small businesses are hurting, and workers are struggling to find jobs.
Another Republican shutdown will only exacerbate these challenges.
Just before this, the Fox-News-host-turned-Defense-Secretary said the role of the military was to “kill people and break things.”
The president is openly turning the military against the American people he is sworn to serve.
It’s dangerous and should be condemned universally.
I’m deeply disappointed that Republicans in control of the White House, Senate, and House of Representatives have caused the first federal shutdown since 2019.
I know that many Missourians have questions and concerns.

House Democrats just tried to keep government open and lower health care costs, but House Republicans blocked us.
Republicans would rather shut down the government than make health care more affordable.
Republicans control the House, Senate, and White House.
And with the funding deadline looming, House Republicans are on vacation while Democrats are in D.C. ready to prevent another harmful Republican shutdown.
It’s about time they put people over politics.
Republicans know that their partisan spending bill will allow ACA tax credits to expire, which will drive up healthcare costs for hardworking families nationwide.
So, they’re lying about it.
Democrats won't stop fighting to lower health costs For The People!

Grocery prices are soaring as the president’s tariff taxes continue to drive-up the cost of everyday goods that American families depend on.
It’s time that Republicans in Congress helped put an end to this reckless experiment.

If Republicans are successful in ending Affordable Care Act tax credits, 46,000 Missourians in #MO05 will see their health care costs skyrocket.
With families already struggling to stay afloat, I refuse to support Republicans’ partisan spending bill that will further drive-up costs.
Republicans would rather shut down the government than work with Democrats to help millions of Americans afford their health care.
We won’t stop fighting to lower health care costs for hardworking families.
