This week, I had the honor of presenting the city of Raytown with a Congressional Record to celebrate the city’s 75th anniversary.
Congratulations on this milestone, and here’s to 75 more years of excellence!

Just as I voted against the Big Ugly Law in the House of Representatives, I will continue fighting to combat these cuts and protect federal funding that supports affordable healthcare for Missouri families.
Because lives are on the line.

Today I joined University Health, local health centers, & rural health partners to discuss how Republicans’ Big Ugly Law will gut Medicaid & weaken our safety net.
These cuts mean fewer doctors, closed clinics, and families forced to choose between medicine & groceries.
It’s unacceptable.
Republicans’ Big Ugly Bill showers the wealthiest 10% of Americans with 63% of the benefits while giving crumbs to the bottom 60% of families and adding $4 trillion to the national debt.
It’s more failed trickle-down economics—only on steroids.
Latest CBO analysis of the full distributional effects of the Trump budget (the "One Big Bill") just landed. They blew out the budget, see how big of a slice you got.

President Trump’s Big Ugly Bill, passed with the support of nearly every Republican, is the largest transfer of wealth from the working class to the wealthy in American history.
Ripping healthcare and food assistance from families while funding tax breaks for the wealthy is a moral failure.
President Trump’s reckless tariff taxes continue to push up prices for American consumers.
It’s hurting hardworking families, American workers, and local small businesses across the country.
At any moment, House Republicans could put an end to this harm.
The president promised he would lower costs for hardworking families on “Day One.”
Instead, his tariff taxes are driving up prices on everything from groceries and clothes to back-to-school supplies.

The National Weather Service plays a pivotal role in protecting our communities by relaying information on extreme weather events.
While they never should have been fired, I’m pleased the administration is bringing these public servants back to work.

The bill would help expand the practice of Community Paramedicine in rural communities across the country, bringing quality healthcare to families who lack access locally.

Rural communities are struggling to access quality healthcare that is both affordable and convenient, with far too many Americans having to travel long distances to get the care they need.
That’s why I introduced the bipartisan Community Paramedicine Act.

“Americans are paying more for appliances, home furnishings, toys and shoes than they were a few months ago, and they could soon face higher prices on more goods as the Trump administration’s latest round of sharper tariffs kicks in.”

“The Trump administration has terminated more than half of all federal funding for gun violence prevention programs in the US”
If the president wants to make our communities safer, he should reinstate federal funding dedicated to gun violence prevention.

Crime hit a 30-year low in Washington last year.
Crime is down another 26% this year.
Rather than wasting taxpayer dollars and law enforcement resources to insult our nation’s capital, the president should focus on lowering costs for American families.
Americans who served and sacrificed to defend our freedoms deserve their earned benefits, period.
The administration’s attempt to deny these servicemembers the retirement benefits they’ve earned is disgraceful.

As the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Housing and Insurance, I’m fighting every day to reform and revitalize federal housing programs in a way that will allow us to build more affordable housing in communities across the country.

The new Villa View complex created by Guadalupe Centers is a great example of how we can lower housing costs by strengthening public-private partnerships, utilizing federal tax policy and private construction to build more affordable housing.

Republicans’ Big Ugly Bill will “slash federal Medicaid spending by more than $1 trillion”
“Various estimates conclude that between 130,000 and 170,000 Missourians could lose coverage under the state’s Medicaid program, known as MO HealthNet”
thebeaconnews.org/stories/2025...
President Trump didn’t just pardon insurrectionists who attacked police officers at our Capitol Building on January 6th—he hired one who urged others to “kill” officers to be a senior advisor at the Department of Justice.
Absolutely disgraceful.
www.npr.org/2025/08/07/n...
Republicans’ Big Ugly Bill made the largest cut to Medicaid in American history while showering billionaires and giant corporations with trillions in more tax breaks.
Now, vulnerable students in communities across the country will pay the price.
www.washingtonpost.com/education/20...
The President’s tariff taxes are paid by AMERICAN consumers and small businesses—which is why the costs of everything from cars to beef to coffee are becoming more expensive.
At a time when hardworking families are struggling with the cost of living, this is only exacerbating the crisis.

Alignment stats consider only votes where a clear yes/no majority existed for the legislator's party. Cross-party marks divergence where the vote matched the opposite party majority. ↔ indicates cross-party divergence.
