This market had been largely steady for weeks before, and the account that made $400,000 had been created that same day.
The reporting from @wsj.com on these facts raises serious questions, and I'm demanding answers. (2/4)

Just before 10 pm on Jan. 2, a prediction market betting that Nicolás Maduro would be out of power by the end of the month began to climb. Six hours later, President Trump announced Maduro had been captured and a newly created account walked away with $400,000 in profits. (1/4)
President Trump is bragging about the hundreds of billions his tariffs have cost American families and businesses while jobs are being cut and prices soar.
Over and over again, I have pushed the Trump Administration for a plan to prevent exactly this from happening to tourism and hospitality workers in Nevada.
They haven't even bothered to respond, frankly, because the President doesn't care.
Welcome news for Nevada families struggling with soaring health care premiums after Republicans allowed middle-class ACA tax credits to expire.
This legislation passed with bipartisan support. Leader Thune must bring it to a vote as soon as possible so we can deliver the relief families need.

The FBI must work with the professionals at the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation of the shooting of Renee Nicole Good by an ICE officer yesterday.
This has to be about justice, not politics.
Federal law enforcement officers are supposed to be going after predators and drug traffickers, but under the Trump Admin. they are being shifted to Trump and Stephen Miller's mass deportation scheme - leaving all of us less safe as a result.
Condemning the violence and lawlessness of the Jan. 6th attack shouldn't be controversial.
I'm in the Senate, feet from where I stood that day, to shine a light on the violent criminals who attacked democracy and President Trump's continued actions to enable them.

What a brazen betrayal of the law enforcement officers who were attacked and injured by insurrectionists on January 6th.
I remember running into an officer washing his eyes out because he had been pepper-sprayed by the rioters Trump has now pardoned.
The President has no shame.
Every action the Trump Admin. has taken - from soaring fees at our parks to absurd social media requirements - has made America a less attractive option for tourists.
That means less income, fewer tips, and a worse-off economy for Nevadans.

The President chose on his own to put American service members in harm's way without consulting Congress, but he found the time to keep his Big Oil cronies informed?
Unacceptable.
It's hard to believe another year has come and gone, but we got a lot of work done in 2025 for Nevada families. 🔽
Trump's DOJ has until tomorrow to release the full Epstein files, let's see if they do.
This is about the transparency and accountability that the victims and the American people deserve.
The CFPB has helped tens of thousands of Nevadans fight predatory lenders, corporate fraud, and unfair business practices. Now, Trump and Russ Vought want to take the cops off the beat.
I'm working with my Senate Banking Committee colleagues to stand up for Nevada consumers.
I will continue working in the Senate to lower health care costs for Nevadans in every way that I can. But we cannot forget the reason we are here:
Senate Republicans have always cared more about tax breaks for the wealthy than relief for everyday Americans.
Moments ago, Senate Republicans chose to let Nevadans’ health care premiums soar next month.
They rejected a simple, clean extension of the ACA enhanced tax credits that would have given families immediate relief and access to the coverage they need.
It’s shameful.
Monarchs put their faces on coins.
@merkley.senate.gov and I wrote a bill to block President Trump from putting himself on our money because in America, we do not have - and will never have - a king.

Thank you for sharing your story, @kim.senate.gov . I know from my own family how tough an Alzheimer's diagnosis can be.
My prayers are with you and your father, and your whole family, as you navigate this journey together.
