Today we honor what would’ve been Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s 96th birthday. 🖤 Dr. King was revolutionary who fought for justice, equality, and love when the world needed it most. His fight isn’t over—it's on us to keep pushing, keep resisting, and keep his dream alive.
With two decades of fighting for vulnerable individuals as a public defender, civil rights attorney, & elected official, I’m honored to continue this work on the House Judiciary Committee. I look forward to protecting Americans' civil rights & liberties!
Oh to be a Delta woman! Our 22 Founders laid the foundation 112 years ago. Today, my Sorors and I humbly take up the torch moving Forward with Fortitude, working to R.I.S.E. (Resilient, Impactful, Steadfast, and Empowered).
Happy Founders Day Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. For one-hundred and twelve years, our Sorors have been on the front lines of change, leading with fortitude, sisterhood, and service. May we continue to follow in the footsteps of our 22 Founders ignited by passion and purpose.
On the other tier are the clients I represented as a public defender in Texas - like the seventeen year old boy who was held on felony probation for taking some candy from his school's concession stand. Our system of justice is not just. The scales are not equal.
There is a two-tiered system of justice in this country, and Donald Trump lives on the tier where he gets to walk into the White House without spending a single day in jail or being put on probation after being convicted of 34 felonies. www.cnn.com/politics/liv...
2025 is off to a strong start for Texas!  Since the CHIPS and Science Act passed, Texas has secured $6 BILLION! From big industries to small businesses, schools, and workforce development, Texas is leading the charge in semiconductors. America’s tech future is Made in Texas!
Hours after a 1-on-1 phone call with Justice Alito, Trump submits a request for an emergency stay on his criminal hush money sentencing hearing. Alito claims it was a reference check for his law clerk wanting a job with Trump . . . but the timing couldn't be shadier. www.cnn.com/2025/01/08/p...
Happy Founders' Day to the Men of Fire and Brimstone, the brothers of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. —living by the motto "Culture for Service and Service for Humanity" for over a century now. You continue to make real impact by serving the community and staying true to the legacy.
Terrifying images coming from Los Angeles right now. I'm praying for the people of California in the path of these wildfires and all the first responders putting themselves in harm's way to save lives. Now is the time to come together and get federal resources to those in need.
And when this happens, you know Trump will try to take credit for it🙄 So let me say this for posterity: Thank you VP KAMALA HARRIS, PRESIDENT BIDEN, and all the good people at the CFPB for moving to free MILLIONS from the burden of medical debt on their credit reports.
Vice President Harris announces: A new rule from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau would ban medical debt from appearing on credit reports — the move would potentially lift the credit scores of about 15 million Americans and make it easier for them to obtain loans.
🚨 #TX30 just locked in $2M for the Dallas Cultural Trail! 🚨 The Deep Ellum Foundation will use the funds to bring art, mobility, and connect downtown, Deep Ellum, and South Dallas. This grant will drive economic growth, tourism, and better connectivity across I-345 & I-30.
