Two simple truths:
1. Without federal action, starting this fall, millions of Americans will see their health premiums DOUBLE.
2. Speaker Johnson is refusing to swear in Rep.-elect Grijalva, the 218th & final signer needed to force a vote on releasing the Epstein files.
Trump and congressional Republicans’ inaction on the looming health-insurance premium cost spike will amount to a SHUTDOWN of health care for 24 million Americans.

Less than a month ago, John Thune and his GOP majority changed Senate rules to allow Trump’s nominees to be confirmed.
But now they won’t change their rules to reopen the government. Let’s be clear- this is a GOP shutdown.

Trump said he would lower costs on day one- not shut down Pennsylvanians’ health care by doubling their insurance premiums.
This should not be a partisan issue - hard-working Americans across the country, in red and blue districts alike, rely on ACA credits to afford their health care.
This is a remarkable statistic: 18.7 million out of the 24.3 million Obamacare enrollees are in states won by President Trump in 2024.

On Sept. 12, Trump told the congressional GOP: “Don’t even bother dealing with [Democrats]... We have to get Republican votes. That’s all."
Now the government is shut down.
If Republicans don’t want to work with Democrats to lower health care costs, they can fund the government on their own.
The Constitution is very clear on this: Congress has the power of the purse, not the executive branch.
How scared is Speaker Johnson of a vote to release the Epstein files?
By keeping the House out of session, he is refusing to swear in Rep.-Elect Adelita Grijalva- the 218th and final signature needed to force a vote.
A quick reminder for the Speaker: Republicans control the House, the Senate, and the White House.
HE is the one keeping the House closed and refusing to protect health care for millions of Americans. And that’s plain and simple.
Our troops, TSA officers, air traffic controllers, & others who are working unpaid are not “having fun with this,” Mr. Speaker.
Furloughed federal employees aren't "having fun with this."
Americans whose premiums will DOUBLE thanks to Republican inaction aren't “having fun with this."

This administration is spending BILLIONS to bail out a wealthy crony, but doing nothing to help the 24 million Americans whose health insurance premiums will skyrocket - GOP priorities like that steered us to a government shutdown.
This should not be a partisan game - across party lines, Americans agree ACA tax credits should be extended.
Congressional Democrats are listening to our constituents and want to stop health insurance premiums from DOUBLING. When will Republicans?
If ACA tax credits aren’t extended, 24 million Americans – including 29,000 people in #PA03– will see their premiums skyrocket by, on average, 114%!
This is not a game. As insurers are currently setting rates for next year, the time to extend these tax credits is NOW.

Rather than throwing temper tantrums online, the President should come to the negotiation table and work with Democrats to stop health care costs from skyrocketing for millions of Americans.
From the same poll- a majority of Americans believe the ACA tax credits should be extended. Without these critical credits, nearly 24 million Americans will see their health insurance premiums DOUBLE.
So, when are congressional Republicans going to start listening?
