On today’s Democratic Daily Download, @underwood.house.gov explains how Republicans are squeezing hardworking families with a budget that cuts Medicaid to give tax breaks to billionaire donors like Elon Musk.
Special Government Employees are only allowed to work for the government for 130 days before the law requires them to divest from their companies. The clock on Elon Musk runs out on May 30. I joined @repcasar.bsky.social in reminding President Trump that Musk must leave the White House.
Measles can be prevented. It has been eradicated from our state in the past. The way we do that is by getting vaccinated.
In partnership with Commissioner Lesley Briones, Harris County Public Health is providing free measles vaccines in #TX07 over the next few weeks.

👩 People whose birth certificate no longer matches their legal name, like lots of married women.

At a time when families across our community and our country are struggling with rising costs, the Congressional Republican budget plan directs devastating cuts to programs that people in #TX07 rely on every day to give tax breaks to President Trump’s billionaire buddies. That's why I voted no.
For decades, the US has been a great place for businesses to set up shop because the rule of law provides certainty. These days? That elephant will be in the room for today's hearing on making the U.S. an appealing place for AI businesses.

Today is #AANHPIEqualPay Day — which means that AANHPI women earn only 83 cents for every dollar paid up to their White, non-Hispanic male peers.
It’s time to make equal pay for equal work the reality. Equal pay means stronger families & communities.
I've heard firsthand how the sudden return-to-office mandate is creating disruptions for our veterans and VA workforce. I joined @juliabrownley.house.gov in sending a letter to VA Secretary Collins to get answers.
This National Public Health Week is a somber one. Anti-science efforts have led to the rejection of vaccines and a measles outbreak in Texas that is now spreading to other states.
Public health programs have saved lives. Secretary Kennedy must restore them.
Thanks to everyone in #TX07 who came to our town hall meeting at the Chinese Community Center Saturday morning, especially special guest @genefortexas.bsky.social. It was good to see and hear from so many neighbors about their concerns and how we move forward together.
🧵 And telling all of us that those dedicated scientists & public servants cannot be trusted, & replacing them with quacks who deny the efficacy of modern medicine and vaccines, telling people in TX during a measles outbreak to use vitamin A & cod liver oil instead of the MMR vaccine? 𝗔 𝘁𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘂𝗱.
🧵 Telling them that they're fired from jobs they've worked at for years, even decades, to protect and serve the American people by a green or red light when they arrive at the building where they work and try to swipe in? 𝗔𝗻 𝗮𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗲.
🧵 Firing thousands of scientists and civil servants who work to keep us safe from disease, who protect us from harmful products, who carry out critical research to advance new cures and treatments? 𝗔 𝘁𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲.
Before the Supreme Court this week: the question of whether Medicaid patients who want to get their annual exams, testing, and birth control at @ppfa.org can do so.
The law says they can. The Court should, too.
President Trump and Elon Musk want to cut NOAA's life-saving science when Texas is expected to be hit by even more severe storms this year.
Title X was born in #TX07. That's just one of the reasons I helped lead a coalition of House Democrats in an effort to restore this critical family planning program that Americans rely on and that the Trump administration is currently dismantling.
Thank you to everyone who has RSVPed! Our #TX07 town hall this Saturday has reached capacity. We're working on more events. Stay in the loop by signing up at fletcher.house.gov/newsletter.

Trump put in place the largest tax increase on the American people yesterday. Meanwhile, House Republicans ran out of DC early so they won't have to defend Trump's tax hike.
On today's Democratic Daily Download, @repdelbene.bsky.social explains what this means for families, businesses and farmers.
Proud to stand with and for @ppfa.org on the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court because every American deserves access to high quality, medically accurate, non-judgmental reproductive health care at the place of their choosing.
