Happy Kwanzaa to all who are celebrating! From Umoja to Imani, may all the blessings of this holiday be yours. ❤️🖤💚
Merry Christmas! Wishing you and your family peace, joy, and love this holiday season.
Americans are paying higher energy bills while Howard Lutnick's family profits from the AI data center boom.
I'm joining @warren.senate.gov and @repdean.bsky.social to demand @commercegov.bsky.social's Inspector General investigate these blatant conflicts of interest.
I had a great discussion with Ben Winters, the Consumer Federation of America’s Director of AI and Privacy, on how Congress can develop AI policy that protects Americans.
Congress must put privacy, civil rights, and consumer safety first as AI transforms our world in real time.
Kristi Noem has a policy requiring personal approval of FEMA contracts above $100,000. She's busy overseeing inhumane ICE raids so the policy is slowing the flow of aid.
Thank you @ross.house.gov for leading this effort to get Western NC the relief they need.

The federal government owes a great debt to Native Americans and tribal communities across the country. While this recognition is important for the state of North Carolina, efforts to work with, support, and uplift tribal communities cannot stop.
I am overjoyed to see the Lumbee Tribe receive the federal tribal recognition that they have long deserved.
This bipartisan effort has taken years, but it pales in comparison to the over a century the Lumbee have been seeking reprieve.

My statement on the passing of former North Carolina Governor Jim Hunt:
Because Democrats successfully forced a vote on the House floor to extend the ACA tax credits, Speaker Johnson is now cancelling votes altogether.
@housedemocrats.bsky.social stand together in demanding that this bill be brought to the floor now before these tax credits expire in 2 weeks.
As a cosponsor of this resolution, I was proud to vote to stop Trump's war on Venezuela.
Alongside @usprogressives.bsky.social, I won’t stop pushing for the passage of this legislation to stop Trump from putting servicemembers in harm’s way.

While ICE is terrorizing communities in NC, Trump continues to bribe local police into performing ICE duties through the 287(g) program.
I introduced the PROTECT Immigration Act with @quigley.house.gov, @mcbride.house.gov, and @jayapal.house.gov to stop this program that endangers communities.

Proud to stand with my colleagues @quigley.house.gov, @mcbride.house.gov, @foushee.house.gov to put forward this common sense bill to restore trust in our communities and protect public safety.

Trump’s DHS is deputizing state and local law enforcement to target immigrants.
This means local cops spending less time, energy, and resources on crime and emergency response and more on ICE raids.
It makes all of us less safe, and I’m helping to lead legislation to stop it.

I'm holding a press conference RIGHT NOW on the PROTECT Immigration Act — a bill to stop Trump from using local police in ICE raids.
Join me and @jayapal.house.gov, @mcbride.house.gov, @foushee.house.gov, @aclu.org, and @immcouncil.org by tuning into the live below.
This could not be more predictable.
When you turn your back on working Americans in favor of tax breaks for billionaires, this is what you get.
Is Trump still grading the economy as an "A+++++"?

More people than ever are dying in prison because of the opioid crisis and Congress needs to take steps to ensure the safety of both inmates and staff alike. (2/2)

I'm introducing legislation with @hankjohnson.house.gov and @mcbath.house.gov to make lifesaving opioid reversal drugs, like Narcan, available at federal prisons. (1/2)
Our children are tomorrow's innovators and Congress needs to provide them with tools to succeed in emerging fields like quantum science.
I introduced the bipartisan Q-Leap Act to help K-12 students develop skills in this technology that is shaping our future.

As 4 Republicans finally joined every Democrat to force a vote on extending the ACA tax credits for 3 years, I was standing shoulder-to-shoulder with my @demwomencaucus.bsky.social colleagues.
I'm proud to be in the fight to protect healthcare access alongside this powerful group of women.
