It’s great to hear that our local transit agencies will be receiving $32 million to expand and improve service across our communities! This federal funding will be critical to continuing transit expansion in our growing region, and I’m glad to see it come to fruition. www.cbs17.com/news/local-n...
I’m glad that a ship was able to dock in Cuba—Trump has no plan to improve conditions for the Cuban people, as we’ve seen with his action in Venezuela and Iran. We should not continue this pressure campaign that hurts the Cuban people and has fostered little change. www.bbc.com/news/article...
I am grateful to see the United Nations taking steps to reunite families affected by this conflict. The United States cannot continue to affirm the continued actions of Netanyahu’s government that has led to this—we must stop arms sales to Israel immediately.
Eleven children, now toddlers, who were born prematurely more than two years ago and evacuated to Egypt, were reunited with their families in Gaza as part of a UN-organized mission that brought tears of joy and celebration reut.rs/4bTw1nq
I was honored to welcome @repjamesclyburn.bsky.social to the Hayti Heritage Center! Rep. Clyburn has been a champion for Black Americans for decades—there was no better place to show him in Durham than this Center which has been a reminder of the strength that comes from the unity of our community.
Reminder: Trump asked Congress for $200 billion for his war with Iran, spent $400 million on a new ballroom, and approved $75 billion for ICE. We have heard these lies our entire lives. The government can fund childcare and healthcare, Trump just chooses not to.
Trump: "Don't send any money for daycare because the U.S. can't take care of daycare…It's not possible for us to take care of daycare, Medicaid, Medicare, all these individual things. They can do it on a state basis. You can't do it on a federal."
The Heritage Foundation itself has only found 41 cases involving non-citizens registering, voting, or attempting to vote in over 5 decades TOTAL. This is a non-issue that is being weaponized against the American people.
This is ridiculous and must be rejected by our courts. Trump is trying to rig elections by attacking mail-in voting and putting in question the votes of people who have recently changed their names or have had identification papers recently expire. apnews.com/article/dona...
It was great meeting with local leaders from Holly Springs, including Mayor Mike Kondratick, Town Councilmembers, and the Town Manager. It has been a pleasure to work alongside you all to support the people of Holly Springs, and I’ll continue the fight to bring federal funding to the area.
📢 FYI: If you are participating in the Congressional Art Competition, don't forget to drop off your submissions at my Durham District office! Drop off hours are from 9AM to 7PM this Monday and Tuesday at 2605 Meridian Pkwy, Suite 110, Durham, NC.
The Republican response to TSA workers missing paychecks, and ICE putting citizens at risk, is giving ICE more money without a long-term funding plan for TSA. That's why I voted against the GOP's Continuing Resolution. Read my full statement.
I refuse to vote in favor of giving ICE more money and will be voting against the Republican’s Continuing Resolution. This Resolution is a band-aid that puts ICE funding above a long-term solution for TSA workers. The Senate passed a package that omits ICE funding. We should be voting on that.
But let’s be very clear, this confirms what @housedemocrats.bsky.social have been saying throughout this partial shutdown. Republicans could have come to the table earlier to fund TSA, without ICE, but refused to. The political games need to end. Let's get it done.
