In my community, we believe strongly in the right to defend ourselves. If faced with a hostile neighbor developing nuclear weapons, anyone would rightfully take action to ensure the safety and security of themselves and their families. ⬇️
Many Jewish people understandably feel that America and Israel are among the few truly safe places they can call home. Israel has been terrorized by Iran for decades, and an Iran with nuclear capabilities threatens the United States, the region, and our globe. ⬇️
One of our most important duties is supporting those serving in our military. I just voted to advance a bill from committee which: 🇺🇸 Gives servicemembers a 3.8% raise 🇺🇸 Includes $40B for military healthcare 🇺🇸 Doesn’t increase overall defense spending, but extends robust support for our military
But for now, if Congress is serious about tackling waste, the Senate should take a hard look at the reckless reconciliation bill I voted against – which will explode our deficit by $3.8 trillion to give handouts to the wealthiest earners. ⬇️
Today, I voted against a recissions package that embodies D.C.’s continually misplaced priorities. We should be rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse and cutting red tape so that civil servants are empowered to do their jobs more effectively. ⬇️
It also addresses the long-overlooked need to offer medical companions to veterans who otherwise may not have a caretaker for a procedure. I look forward to this bill coming to the House Floor and the opportunity to continue improving it, to ensure every veteran can access care they're promised.
This bill funds veterans’ care by $4B more than last year – and it provides more than $52B, in addition to advanced funds I advocated for, to care for those affected by toxic exposure. It builds childcare centers & family housing, enables critical medical research, & combats veteran homelessness. ⬇️
Our veterans and servicemembers put their lives on the line to protect our freedoms – and we not only owe them gratitude, but also action. Today, I voted to advance legislation out of committee that respects our veterans' sacrifices by funding essential services they rely on. ⬇️
Wealthy investors shouldn't have loopholes that give them a lower tax rate than hardworking Southwest Washington families. My bill will help level the playing field in our tax system – while generating revenue to take on our national debt and support programs rural communities rely on.
People don’t often get thanked for fires that never happen. It’s impt. we recognize the skill & service of dedicated officers who saved so many lives from being broken. I’m grateful to our law enforcement, including Kelso PD, & the work that inoculates our communities against this kind of violence.
FBI and Columbia County law enforcement officials say they thwarted a planned “explosive attack and mass shooting” last month at the Three Rivers Mall in Kelso, Washington, by an Oregon teenager.
When we can fix our own devices or take them to the shop we want, it saves us money and cuts down on waste. Glad to see these steps taken in our state – and I'll keep fighting in Congress for the right to repair our cars, ag equipment, and electronics.
Today, and always, we honor the courageous men and women who lost their lives defending our nation and the freedoms we cherish. I joined the Community Military Appreciation Committee for #MemorialDay to carry on the legacy of those we've lost and honor their memory.
Military technicians shouldn't have to waste time on hold with manufacturers, ship equipment overseas for simple fixes, or fly out authorized contractors. These changes will save our tax dollars, strengthen military readiness, and respect the skill of our servicemembers.
