Martin Heinrich

Martin Trevor Heinrich is an American politician serving as the senior United States senator from New Mexico, a seat he has held since 2013. A member of the Democratic Party, Heinrich served as the U.S. representative from New Mexico's 1st congressional district from 2009 to 2013. He and fellow senator Ben Ray Luján are the co-deans of New Mexico's congressional delegation.

While you’re paying higher costs on everything from gas to groceries, Senate Republicans are trying to take your taxpayer dollars and use them to pay for a slush fund for Trump’s billionaire donors and cop-beating insurrectionists and fund a lawless ICE.
The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, which I helped negotiate, provided $1 billion in funding for schools to hire mental health workers and counselors. Now, the Trump administration has cut off those grants, leaving children and schools high and dry.
In New Mexico, more than 2 out of 3 kids receive healthcare from Medicaid or CHIP. Trump and Republicans’ big bad bill gutted $1 trillion from a program that funds mental health care for these programs, leaving our children without vital care.
Since Republicans’ Big Bad Bill cut SNAP funding, over 700,000 children in the US have lost benefits, including over 9,000 New Mexico kids.   Republicans have made it clear that they care more about giving tax cuts to billionaires than making sure our children are fed.
On Memorial Day we honor those who gave their lives to defend our freedoms and democracy. We remember the sacrifices brave New Mexicans made and honor the families, loved ones, and communities who carry that sacrifice with them every day.
