My bill, the Vote at Home Act, expands Oregon's proven election system, nationwide. It's about putting the power in your hands to vote when & how you want. Still wanna vote in-person? Do it! Wanna vote by mail & have more time to study your options? You can do that too! YOUR vote, YOUR choice.
The SAVE Act is voter suppression. Over 900K Oregon women whose name doesn't match their birth certificate could be ineligible to vote. 45.1% of Oregonians without a passport could have to pay over $236M just to register. I didn't just vote 'No' – I intro'd a bill that makes it easier to vote.
Make no mistake, President Trump folded. Whatever minor concessions he got could have been achieved without alienating our allies, spooking markets, and raising costs for American families. Actions have consequences and we will be paying for this for a long time.
🚨Trump says he’s raising tariffs on China to 125% and reducing tariffs on other countries to 10% for 90 days.
Based on the lack of respect that China has shown to the World’s Markets, I am hereby raising the Tariff charged to China by the United States of America to 125%, effective immediately. At some point, hopefully in the near future, China will realize that the days of ripping off the U.S.A., and other Countries, is no longer sustainable or acceptable. Conversely, and based on the fact that more than 75 Countries have called Representatives of the United States, including the Departments of Commerce, Treasury, and the USTR, to negotiate a solution to the subjects being discussed relative to Trade, Trade Barriers, Tariffs, Currency Manipulation, and Non Monetary Tariffs, and that these Countries have not, at my strong suggestion, retaliated in any way, shape, or form against the United States, I have authorized a 90 day PAUSE, and a substantially lowered Reciprocal Tariff during this period, of 10%, also effective immediately. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
Today, Republicans on the Natural Resources Committee are using our time & your taxpayer dollars to force a vote on Marjorie Taylor Greene's bill to rename the Gulf of Mexico. I used my time to call it what it is: a sycophantic bill that does NOTHING to solve the many crises this admin is creating.
Today was amazing! Across the country people came out to speak up for our democracy. The way we win is through Congress, the Courts & Community. This is our community, Americans across the country, on all sides, who will stand up against fascism. Today made me proud to be an American. — Val
I strongly believe unrestricted free trade, NAFTA, TPP etc… was/is horrible for workers. But these tariffs are just as bad in the other direction. They are already destroying faith in our economy. Will drive up prices and enable corporate greed. This isn’t America first, it’s working people last.
AFSCME retiree Sue Conard: “When I was 3, my father passed away. For the next 15 years, Social Security survivor benefits allowed my family to survive & allowed me to stay in school & pursue a career as a public health nurse."
We knew this was coming, wish it woulda happened sooner, though. The damage that Musk has done to critical services that taxpayers rely on will not be undone by tossing him to the wayside. But don’t be fooled: Musk will continue to be President Trump’s personal checkbook. #EndCitizensUnited
One senior Trump official said Musk is likely to retain an informal role as an adviser and continue to be an occasional face around the White House grounds. Another cautioned that anyone who thinks he'll disappear entirely from Trump’s orbit is “fooling themselves.”
@booker.senate.gov 25 hours! The only thing more impressive than your perseverance, was the clarity with which you spoke. This is our moral moment. Thank you for inspiring us all to fight even harder. - Val #RightAndWrong
Speaker Mike Johnson cancelled all legislative work for the week because he lost a vote. House Republicans love to call federal workers lazy but are more than happy to give themselves even more paid vacation. And this is the party of "government efficiency"?
As @uaw.org President Shawn Fain said, President Trump is trying to gut unions and essential services to give him and his billionaire friends a tax cut. To every single person who cares about the fundamental freedom of all workers, now is the time to be even louder.
Gutting the Department of Labor’s ILAB will harm America’s workers by encouraging outsourcing by greedy corporations looking for cheap labor. These cuts are a gift to billionaires and dictators who want to stamp out unions and roll back human rights.
On this Trans Day of Visibility, I stand with the trans community. Growing up in the labor movement, I learned at a young age that attack on one of us, is an attack on all of us.   All our rights are connected, and I am in this fight with you.
Rep Hoyle speaks at the Christopher Street Project’s Trans Day of Visibility rally.
The President’s executive order taking collective bargaining rights away from federal workers is not about efficiency, it’s union busting. We’ve seen it before and we know that standing together is the only way to win. I am proud to stand with AFGE in this fight. #unionstrong
President Trump’s Executive Order banning public sector unions is blatantly unconstitutional & is clearly union busting But when they come for one of us, they come for all of us. We will fight this fight for as long as it takes. I’m proud to stand with AFGE today and every day. #UnionProud
🧵 Statement from UAW President Shawn Fain on Attacks on Federal Workers: Yesterday, President Trump signed an order that tramples on the union rights of more than a million federal workers, stripping them of their ability to negotiate over their working conditions.
