Instead of waging culture wars, this Administration should be focused on what families actually need: fully funded public schools, affordable college, and the resources teachers need to help every child succeed.
This case is about the Dept of Ed trying to threaten schools with the loss of federal funding unless they rolled back lawful programs and policies that support diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Today’s decision to give up the legal fight and drop this appeal is an admission that the Trump Administration’s effort to bully schools and colleges into abandoning lawful diversity and inclusion work was wrong and unconstitutional.

If the Trump administration wants to talk about “law and order,” it should start with transparency and accountability, not intimidation and retaliation. Congress will keep pushing for real oversight, because no one’s rights should depend on the zip code they live in or the way they look.
Last week on CNN’s Laura Coates Live, I spoke about what we heard at our Minneapolis field hearing: local leaders demanding answers after a deadly ICE shooting, and Americans detained and shackled simply for documenting what they saw.
Let’s keep marching, serving, and building the Beloved Community together.
Shoutout to Faith Temple 2 Men’s Day Breakfast, the National Action Network MLK Prayer Breakfast, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.’s “We Are One” MLK Day of Service, and the Sickle Cell Coalition of Maryland’s 3rd Annual MLK Unity Day, a service day for sickle cell warriors.
On Dr. King’s Day, we do not just honor his words. We put his legacy to work.
This MLK Weekend, I was proud to stand with our community.
Joining @jayapal.house.gov and the MN House delegation LIVE from Minneapolis to demand accountability for the ICE shooting of Renee Good. The public deserves answers. Tune in now!

Today’s field hearing in Minnesota is about one thing: accountability. A mother was killed by a federal officer and the American people deserve answers, justice, and leadership that protects, not terrorizes, our communities. We will keep fighting until that happens.
We have to protect this mission-critical work, invest in our engineers and researchers, and keep inspiring the next generation of explorers. 🚀🔭
Proud to welcome Congresswomen Zoe Lofgren and Grace Meng to Maryland’s NASA Goddard Space Flight Center for a tour of the work that keeps America leading in space and science. Goddard is a national treasure. @meng.house.gov @lofgren.house.gov
Happy Founders’ Day to the women of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. ❤️🐘
Delta’s legacy of leadership and advocacy continues to uplift our communities and move our country forward. Thank you for 112 years of impact.
Threatening Fed Chair Jerome Powell with a DOJ indictment is corrupt and dangerous.
It is political intimidation.
An independent Fed keeps prices stable and markets honest. President Trump cares more about abusing his power over actually making prices affordable.
Alongside my fellow House Democrats, I just voted to restore the Affordable Care Act tax credits Republicans let expire on January 1—relief that lowers premiums and can save families thousands.
Now the Senate must act: take up the bill and pass it—no delays, no excuses.
ICE shot and killed a woman in Minneapolis today—and instead of transparency, the President is rushing out reckless accusations. Her family deserves the truth, and our entire country deserves better.
No boots on the ground. No oil war. President Trump needs to focus on lowering costs at home.
Full Statement Below:
House Republicans promised to lower costs. Instead, they let ACA tax credits expire—raising health care premiums for millions. Families across the country can’t afford this.
Wishing everyone across Maryland’s Fourth District a Merry Christmas and a joyful holiday season. May this day be filled with peace, love, and time with family and friends. 🎄✨
