The war in Iran has already killed 13 U.S. servicemembers, 168 Iranian children, and displaced millions of Iranians, wasted billions of taxpayer dollars, and put our democracy and global order at risk. This war is illegal and unconstitutional. It must end now.
There is an illegal war happening in Iran right now. There is an illegal cover-up of the Epstein files. There is illegal corruption by the Trump administration. But there are no “illegal” children. That is a cruel and hurtful attack.
Great to talk to my constituent and an incredible small business owner, Molly Moon, at the Capitol today! Molly has found that helping her workers pay for childcare has been a great return on investment. It’s time for Congress to take note and pass universal childcare!
Last month, I called out the mishandling of the Epstein files by the Department of Justice under Attorney General Pam Bondi. Today, the House Oversight Committee issued a subpoena to demand more answers from her. We can not give up until we get accountability for all the survivors.
After far too long, a plaque honoring the law enforcement officers who risked their lives to defend our Capitol is finally on display. It is thanks to these brave officers that we were able to certify the election and protect our democracy. I am incredibly grateful to each of them.

The first week of Trump’s war with Iran cost over $11 BILLION. And there’s reporting that he plans to request another $50B in funding. That amount of money, invested in our communities, could end homelessness or cover daily nutrition benefits for every American on SNAP.
Today, I asked a State Department official if it’s in our national security interests to allow U.S. weapons to be used against civilians. The silence I got in response was deafening, and only broken when Republicans on the committee interrupted my line of questioning.
TSA is working without pay because Republicans refused to negotiate DHS funding. Democrats are working to ensure TSA, FEMA, and the Coast Guard get paid, but we will not give another cent to Trump’s lawless ICE & CBP without reforms. Republicans must come to the table NOW.
While dropping off his kids, federal agents detained an Afghan refugee who served alongside U.S. special forces. He died less than 24 hours later. This is the 43rd death in ICE custody since Trump retook office. We need accountability and justice for all those who’ve died under their watch.
An Afghan man who served alongside US special forces and fled his native country after its takeover by the Taliban died over the weekend shortly after being detained by immigration authorities, according to his family and an advocacy group. https://cnn.it/4uxaXvs
One thing we are really missing in the coverage of Iran is the voices of the people of the region that have been dragged into this war: the grieving mothers of the 170+ mostly children killed in the US strike on the girls school and... (1/2)
NBC News update: DEATH TOLL: More than 2,000 people have been killed across the Middle East. In Iran, more than 1,200 people have been killed by Israeli and American strikes, according to the Iranian Red Crescent Society. At least 850 people have been killed in Lebanon and 13 have died in Israel. Thirteen U.S. service members have been killed, and two more died of noncombat causes.
The Pentagon has never passed an audit. And yet we keep giving them more and more money each year. We want a department that is a department of peace, not a department that goes to war to pad the pockets of for profit defense contractors.
The SAVE America Act requires voters to have proof of citizenship with them to vote — not just your driver’s license, but a passport or birth certificate. This is a Republican attempt at voter suppression — plain and simple.
I have a bipartisan bill to ban Members of Congress from stock trading — with colleagues on both sides of the aisle. It is so important that we find these openings for bipartisan collaboration, even as we hold Republicans accountable for their refusal to protect our checks and balances.
