The US Strategic Petroleum Reserve is at its lowest level since 1983. Americans are still struggling to fill the tank to get to work or travel this summer. This energy vulnerability is a dangerous and unnecessary posture for the US.
Congratulations Metroparks Toledo on a stellar debut for #WatershedWeekend. Lake Erie and its Maumee River watershed are vital to life in the Western Basin. Thank you to all who call our region home for helping to protect our natural beauty.
When the President forced a handpicked John F Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts board to add the Trump name to this cherished living memorial to fallen former President, the American people and Kennedy family immediately called out the action. Today the renaming was finally reversed.
Honored the beautiful, generous, faithful, and patriotic life of Mary Jane Flores. Mary Jane was a lifelong Catholic who not only practiced her faith, but she lived it. Her legacy lives on in all the thousands of lives she so nobly touched, certainly in her own family, but also across our region.
Earlier this week Speaker Johnson shared his secret plan to cut Social Security, Medicare & Medicaid. The following day the President said he loves inflation. I don't agree with cuts to these hard earned benefits and I don't agree that inflation is great. They need to get outside the Beltway Bubble.

Today, I led the @housedemocrats.bsky.social in wearing orange to honor Hadiya Pendleton and every life stolen by gun violence. Orange was Hadiya's favorite color, and now, it's a bright beacon for gun violence awareness.
We owe survivors more than thoughts & prayers. We owe them action.
We’ve lost a true American Patriot with the passing of Walt Churchill Jr. I fondly remember visiting Walt Churchill’s Market, sharing stories of our family markets, and seeing his pride to carry on his father’s legacy in the family business. I join all across our region in mourning Walt’s passing.
Yesterday Speaker Johnson forecasted his secret plan to cut Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. Today, the President said he loves inflation, which hit 4.2%, and thinks the numbers are great. Northwest Ohioans don’t want Social Security cuts and can’t afford higher costs.
This weekend there was a mass shooting in Toledo—12 people were shot. Thanks to dedicated first responders with years of groundbreaking training, no one died. Training of this type was developed by the CDC Firearm Injury & Mortality Prevention Research Program. Today's GOP bill defunds the program.

This is the part of town where my mom grew up.
On Saturday, my beloved hometown of Toledo, Ohio, suffered tragic and senseless gun violence in our storied Old West End community. I thank all of my colleagues who joined us this evening on the House Floor for a moment of silence to help lift up all impacted in our Toledo and NW Ohio communities.
As this tragic set of events settles in for our resilient community, I will coordinate with local, state, and federal officials who can help our community get the answers it desperately needs. Please keep Northwest Ohio and Toledo in your prayers tonight, as we seek healing and calm.
Praying now for victims and our Old West End community — one of the most joyous and celebrated events in our region will endure. It will take time and work to restore comfort, security, and trust.
Our community is in pain tonight as a result of senseless gun violence in Toledo's storied Old West End community. Let me express our gratitude to the Toledo Police and Fire Departments and all first responders for once again proving their courage and utter devotion to duty.
Ohio District 4 Communications Workers of America leaders gathered in Washington for their Presidents’ Meeting and Legislative Conference. It is an honor to stand with the working men and women who keep America running. Through collective bargaining, people create positive change from their unity.
82 years ago today, members of the Greatest Generation who I often call the most unselfish generation launched the largest air, land, and sea invasion in world history as Allied forces began efforts to liberate Nazi-occupied France. Let us all remember their great achievements and immense sacrifice.
The war in Iran forced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, and caused oil prices to skyrocket. Now heading into the summer months, gas prices are still through the roof, and our people simply cannot afford it. Experts say it could get worse, and $5 gas could be right around the corner.
To Americans, Liberty is not negotiable—it is fundamental. The bipartisan Ukraine Support Act the House passed today was a choice between Liberty and tyranny. Our Free World must stand tall against Putin’s brutality. Today we said we stand with Ukraine and our allies, and Russia must face sanctions.
I am actively monitoring this situation and continue to advocate for fully funding the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) and USDA research to safeguard our communities, our agriculture, our native species, and our economy—especially in my home region of Northwest Ohio.
