President Trump's tariff taxes are raising costs by more than $4,000 a year for the average family.   We should be working to lower the cost of living — not making everything from groceries to housing more expensive.
Stop 19 on my 19-county rural tour: Isanti County!   I toured the Braham Area Food Shelf saw the important work their staff and volunteers do to get food and essentials to the community.   I'll keep fighting to protect food assistance for those in need.
Stop 18 on my 19-county rural tour: Lake County!   I was joined in Two Harbors by Mayor Lew Conner, Lake County Tourism Bureau's Janelle Jones, State Senator Grant Hauschild, and local leaders to speak about the importance of supporting tourism in MN and our rural economy.
Stop 16 on my 19-county rural tour: Mower County! I met with local leaders, including former State Senator Dave Senjem, at the new KSMQ public TV broadcast center in Austin. KSMQ serves much of southern MN and shows how local news brings our communities together.
The world lost a true leader with the passing of Pope Francis. His message of peace, justice, and unity left a lasting impact. When he addressed Congress in 2015, he called on us to set aside differences and unite for the common good. This message is more important now than ever.
After firing food safety inspectors, the Trump Administration is now reportedly planning to end routine food testing and inspections.   This is reckless and puts Americans' health and food at risk — and we will fight back against it.
Stop 15 on my 19-county rural tour: Freeborn County!   I met with Green Acres Milling founders & co-owners Landon and Dr. Anne Plagge, local farmer investors, & Mayor Richard Murray.   We discussed their plans to build a new processing facility to spark new economic opportunity.
When I’m at town halls, people who voted for Trump want to know why he isn’t bringing prices down or helping with housing. Trump’s tariff taxes are bad for everyone— eating into margins and raising costs.
Stop 14 on my 19-county rural tour: Waseca County!   I visited the Agricultural Utilization Research Institute, which works with MN farmers, businesses, & entrepreneurs to develop innovative uses for ag products.   I’m committed to getting a bipartisan Farm Bill to support them.
Stop 13 on my 19-county rural tour: Blue Earth County!   I toured the VINE Adult Community Center & met with seniors to talk about the issues they are facing, including threats to Medicaid & attacks on Social Security.   I will continue fighting to protect our seniors.
Head Start provides child care and preschool to thousands of Minnesota kids. But this year, Minnesota has received almost $20 million less in Head Start funding. We need to invest in our kids — not take away child care.
Stop 12 on my 19-county rural tour: Faribault County!   I visited MN Soybean Growers President Darin Johnson's farm to meet with members of his family and MSGA leaders to discuss farmers' concerns, including trade uncertainty and rising input costs as we near spring planting season.
Stop 11 on my 19-county rural tour: Martin County!   I stopped by the Martin County Historical Society to meet board members & local leaders & discuss concerns, including the uncertainty nursing homes are facing with threats to Medicaid & delays in infrastructure improvements.
This is about the rule of law. The Administration must follow court orders. I stand with @vanhollen.senate.gov in fighting to stop this injustice.
I've been in El Salvador all day fighting for the return of Mr. Abrego Garcia. The Trump Administration can lie all they want, but the Court said they failed to show he was part of MS-13. This is about bringing home a man they ADMIT should never have been abducted. I won't rest until then.
Google has dominated online advertising for too long and used its power to squelch competition and raise prices. This is a big win for consumers, small businesses, and content creators that will open digital markets to more innovation and lower prices.
Stop 10 on my 19-county rural tour: Jackson County!   I joined Brian Werner from Minnesota Bio-Fuels and Heron Lake BioEnergy CEO Mike Green for a tour of their facility.   Our farmers and ethanol producers need business certainty, including year-round E15 and fair trade policies.
Stop 9 on my 19-county rural tour: Nobles County!   I visited the Nobles County Dispatch Center with County Commissioner Board Chair Gene Metz, Mayor Rick Von Holt, Police Chief Troy Apple, & public safety officials.   We must support the 9-1-1 workers who are vital to public safety.
