Our immigration court system simply cannot be impartial nor effective as long as it remains under the DOJ and the executive branch. That’s why I’ve introduced a bill with @raskin.house.gov, @hankjohnson.house.gov, and @repdangoldman.bsky.social to create an independent immigration court system.
I strongly condemn this violent attack on Sunday in San Jose. Antisemitism has no place in our city nor does any form of hate. I support our local police investigating this crime and ensuring those responsible are held accountable.
Police in San Jose, Calif., are investigating a violent attack against two adult men outside an upscale restaurant as an antisemitic hate crime, a spokesperson for the police department confirmed.

It was wonderful to welcome our California State Senators and President Pro Tem Monique Limón to DC last week! Our Democratic legislators at the state and federal levels are united and working to lower costs and protect Californians from Trump’s toxic agenda.
Trump is continuing to waste time trying to undo his 2020 election loss, even when REPUBLICAN election officials in Arizona testified that the official vote count was accurate. He’s more focused on hiding his own failures and than he is on lowering costs for Americans.
BREAKING: The Trump administration has subpoenaed Arizona 2020 election records. It's the latest step the president has taken to relitigate an election he lost.
These claims aren’t grounded in the facts or the law, and I applaud SJSU for standing their ground and defending their students and institution from these politicized attacks.
Donald Trump’s war in Iran isn’t just illegal, it’s expensive - costing taxpayers about $1,000,000,000 PER DAY and sending gas prices soaring. Republicans can find money for bombs but not for Americans’ healthcare?
Last week, I talked with leaders from California Central Coast Joint Venture, Bay Planning Commission, and American Bird Conservancy to discuss ways that the federal government can support bird conservation efforts in #CA18 and protect our region’s beautiful biodiversity.
Thank you to leaders from Kings, Monterey, San Benito, and Santa Clara Counties for visiting our office in DC last week! We had some productive discussions about water issues and how to support economic development in #CA18.
Democrats want to get funding to FEMA, TSA, and our Coast Guard while not writing a blank check to parts of DHS like ICE/ CBP that are brutalizing American communities. I’m supporting @delauro.house.gov’s bill to do just that, and Speaker Johnson should hold a vote on H.R. 7481 now.
I just asked Kristi Noem why her masked ICE agents are breaking windows and dragging U.S. citizens out of their cars. Is that their training? She says these are “soft techniques”. If these are soft techniques, the need for Congress to rein in ICE couldn’t be more obvious.
