When Congress passes a budget, the President MUST spend the money as written.
If the President wants to cancel funds, he has to ASK Congress. If Congress says no or does nothing, the law says the money must be spent.

Trump’s budget director, Russell Vought, is trying to cancel about $5 BILLION in funding that Congress already approved using a scheme called “pocket rescission.”
Here’s the truth: 🧵
Our biggest class yet of Mike Levin For Congress interns just graduated! Huge thanks to our field team and to the interns for all of their hard work and dedication.
The military is not a political tool.
Federal law forbids using our troops as domestic law enforcement.
They deserve respect for their mission: defending America abroad, not being misused against Americans at home.
Trump’s budget director Russell Vought wants to shred the Constitution by handing Congress’s purse power to the White House.
It’s a full-blown assault on checks and balances.
I’ll always defend the Constitution and the freedoms it protects.

Rising inequality, debt, tariffs, and Fed meddling are pushing America toward autocracy.
Too many leaders stay silent.
I won’t.
I’ll fight every day to defend our democracy, protect working families, and hold Trump accountable.

Medicare works because it’s simple & fair.
Now Trump is pushing a pilot that forces seniors into the same prior-authorization nightmares of private insurance—using A.I. contractors paid to deny care.
A dangerous step toward privatizing Medicare. www.nytimes.com/2025/08/28/h...

This is a wake-up call: we can’t keep relying on fossil fuels.
We need to invest in clean energy and make the safer, cheaper, cleaner choice for our planet and for future generations.

Trump’s assault on the Fed isn’t strength—it’s reckless.
Politicizing interest rates risks fueling inflation and rattling markets.
History shows it ends badly.
Families pay the price while Trump plays games with the economy.

This isn’t just about funding.
It's about completely dismantling checks and balances and helping Trump rig the system.
If Republicans in Congress don't grow a spine and fight back with Democrats, we will cease to be a coequal branch, and everything our Founders fought for will be lost.

Congressional Republicans are gutting rural health care.
Their bill slashes Medicaid, putting up to 300 rural hospitals at risk, while dangling a $10B fund that does not come close to covering the damage.
Rural America will not be revitalized—it will be left behind.

For years I’ve urged California to end the tax on military retiree pensions. I’m encouraged by the progress being made, but I’ll keep pushing until it’s fully eliminated.

Don't forget: Republicans claim they didn’t gut Medicaid—just added “accountability,” and that’s a LIE.
Their Big Ugly Bill slashes $1 trillion, imposes harsh red tape, and creates chaos that will push millions off their coverage.
All to fund a billionaire tax break.
Electric bills are up nearly 10% this year, and families could pay hundreds more each year by 2035. Repealing clean energy credits and adding tariffs means higher costs for working families. www.forbes.com/sites/maryro...
RFK is gutting the CDC. Firing experts and sidelining science won’t protect your kids from the next pandemic—it will put them at risk. apnews.com/article/cdc-...
Tariffs are a hidden tax on working families. They drive up prices, squeeze small businesses, and put jobs at risk. We need real solutions to lower costs—not political stunts that punish Americans.
