Imagine hating poor people so much that not only do you cancel their food assistance, but you also go after the grocery stores that are trying to help them in a time of dire need.
The USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse. I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email
For the record, nothing prevents the House of Representatives from meeting during a shutdown. Johnson could call the House back whenever he wants, swear in Grijalva, pass appropriations bills, advance other legislation... Instead he's given Republicans a 7 week paid vacation.
BREAM: Can you not swear in Adelita Grijalva, though? MIKE JOHNSON: There is a precedent for doing a pro forma session swearing in, but we are not engaging in regular business right now
Wall Street is doing great because they’re screwing over working folks. When was the last time this “trickle down economics” bullshit worked for ANYONE except the rich & powerful?
Bessent: "President Trump is promises made, promises kept on his campaign promises. And it's gonna start flowing through to working Americans next year. Wall Street has done great."
While you’re struggling to put food on the table & pay for healthcare, Trump is focused on yet another home renovation project. He’s auditioning for Property Brothers while you can’t pay your rent.
Fantastic to be in Athol for the groundbreaking of The Residences at the Park—a new affordable housing community. I secured $1 million in federal funding for nonprofit NewVue to make this a reality. Every American deserves affordable housing & projects like these make it happen.
Local food pantries are essential—especially as Trump illegally rips away food assistance from millions of families. I was honored to be at the ribbon cutting for the renovation of the Food Pantry at Pernet Family Health Service. Their work is so critical during these challenging times.
Republicans cut $186 billion from SNAP to give tax breaks to billionaires. Now they're illegally withholding food assistance from 42 million Americans. They found money for billionaire donors & hedge fund managers. They just refuse to find it for hungry kids & seniors.
Trump is illegally suspending November food assistance payments for 42 million Americans, including 16 million American children, 8 million American seniors and 1.2 million American veterans. Hard to explain how taking food away from hungry Americans is "America First."
Trump continues to violate the rights of our immigrant community. I hosted a Know Your Rights roundtable in Leominster with @massago.bsky.social @trahan.house.gov to make sure folks understand their constitutional protections. America is a nation of immigrants & we must stand with them.
Healthcare premiums will skyrocket because Trump refuses to extend tax credits. Poor kids & working families will go hungry because he's illegally canceling SNAP. He can feed kids & lower healthcare costs TODAY, but he’d rather use you as political leverage. A lousy president & a lousy person.
Trump can find $40 billion to bail out Argentina, but can’t find it in his heart to help millions of hungry Americans. I spoke with @lawrenceodonnell.msnbc.com about how Republicans are illegally cancelling nutrition assistance & using hungry families as sick political leverage.
JD Vance grew up on nutrition assistance provided by the federal government. Now, he’s ripping SNAP away from millions of hungry kids growing up in poverty. Pulling the ladder up when you reach the top is not the American way. He should be ashamed.
Trump’s tariffs are a nightmare for working families this Halloween 🎃 🍫 Candy is up 11% 🧛‍♀️ Costumes up 13% 🕸️ Decorations up 11% Everything costs more—because Trump’s economy works for billionaires, not you.
