I filed one removing restrictions on the states using provider taxes to pay Medicaid costs.
House Republicans ruled all proposed amendments out of order and won’t vote on a single one.

No excuses: Congressional Republicans know what they’re doing is deeply unpopular.
🚨 The bottom 80 PERCENT of households will see their take-home incomes fall as a direct result of this Big Ugly Bill and Trump’s tariffs.
States will be forced to choose between significantly raising taxes or cutting services. Millions will lose their health insurance and food benefits.
All to give tax breaks to the wealthiest Americans.
The Senate just made the Big Ugly Bill worse.
On top of imposing administrative costs on Medicaid and shifting some SNAP benefits costs to the states, the bill now cuts $1 trillion from Medicaid and makes it harder for states to pay their share of the program.
On top of putting Medicaid at risk, the Big Ugly Bill risks benefits for Virginia’s 828,000 SNAP recipients, leaving the General Assembly no choice but to cut services or raise taxes.

This morning, I joined @zerlinamaxwell.bsky.social on @zerlinamornings.bsky.social to reflect on the state of reproductive freedom three years after the fall of Roe and how the Big Ugly Budget Bill will further erode access to abortion.
This would unwind Medicaid expansion in Virginia, kicking about 580,000 Virginians off their health insurance, raising costs for everyone else, and closing rural hospitals.
