Here in Santa Monica alongside President Biden and Governor Newsom to be briefed on the latest wildfire devastation. We’ve got a big fight ahead of us. Please, listen to all local warnings and evacuation orders and be prepared to leave. Together, we’re going to get through this.
Thinking of everyone fleeing their homes tonight from the devastating #PalisadesFire. Grateful to our firefighters and first responders for their tireless work to protect our communities. If you live in or near impacted areas, please heed all warnings and evacuation orders.
As Congress votes today to peacefully certify the 2024 election, we remember 2021, when violent insurrectionists sought to disrupt the peaceful transition of power. The attack on January 6th made it clear that we must fight to preserve our democracy and the right to vote.
Happy New Year, California! 2024 brought both progress and challenges, but I'm ready to hit the ground running in 2025 to: 🗳️Defend democracy 🏥Protect health care access 🌲Tackle the climate crisis And so much more.
Today we mourn the loss of President Jimmy Carter. May his legacy of humanitarian work, commitment to helping the most vulnerable, and working towards peace inspire us and future generations.
Jimmy Carter, the 39th US president who served one term and went on to become a globe-trotting elder statesman and humanitarian icon, has died. He was 100. cnn.it/3DE57Te
🌳NEWS: The Senate passed my bill to create the César E. Chávez and the Farmworker Movement National Park!  The park honors Chavez’s legacy and the Latino civil rights leaders who helped shape the farm worker and civil rights movement, forever changing the lives of our community.
Grateful to see my bills to rename a San Francisco federal building and post office after Senator Feinstein heading to President Biden's desk.   These buildings will help honor the indelible legacy of a towering figure in the history of our state and our nation for generations.
Trump has ordered Republicans to shut down the government, catering to his billionaire benefactors who won’t feel its impacts.    You know who will?   Our troops, TSA employees, and the millions of federal workers who will go without paychecks right before the holidays.
Today, the Senate passed a package of bills with priorities that I secured to: 🌊Bolster CA’s water infrastructure 🏞️Invest in habitat restoration 💰Promote economic development And so much more! This means BIG investments coming to CA to tackle some of our biggest challenges.
I am honored to serve as Ranking Member of the Rules and Administration Committee as we work in a bipartisan manner to strengthen our democracy and oversee our federal institutions. Let’s get to work!
