As the right to collectively bargain is increasing under attack, I gave remarks in solidarity with unions earlier today during the 27th Biennial Virginia AFL-CIO State Conference
The Hampton VA Medical Center and the newly opened North Battlefield Outpatient VA Clinic in Chesapeake are facing severe staffing issues due to the Trump Administration’s ongoing attacks on the federal workforce and mass firings.

The Public Service Loan Forgiveness program helps people serving their communities pay off their student loan debt.
ED is now proposing an arbitrary rule that would disqualify borrowers for forgiveness if the administration has ideological differences with the borrower's work. tinyurl.com/3kfuhxx3
I attended the United Way of South Hampton Roads African American Leadership Society’s Legacy in Action Dinner, where my late former colleague, the Honorable Jerrauld Jones and his widow, the Honorable Lyn Simmons were honored for their contributions to this region
Celebrated the 90th anniversary of Social Security at the Peninsula Agency on Aging.
Trump and the GOP are laying off customer service workers, and making it harder for seniors to receive the benefits that they have earned. We must protect Social Security for today’s seniors & future generations.
Donald Trump imposed reckless tariffs that force American businesses and consumers to pay more.

Last week, I thanked Admiral Daryl Caudle for his leadership as Commander of U.S. Fleet Forces. I have no doubt he will do an excellent job in his new position as Chief of Naval Operations.
I participated in a Medicaid Town Hall last evening hosted by several regional advocacy organizations, to discuss the devastating impacts of Republican attacks on the Medicaid program
I joined city and industrial leaders at the Groundbreaking Ceremony for Virginia Peninsula Community College’s Newport News Trades Center, which will prepare nearly 400 students per year for careers in the maritime and residential construction industries
Last night, I hosted a forum that made one thing clear– Closing Job Corps would devastate the students it serves, the employers who hire them, and the local economies they support.
Enjoyed having lunch with members of NARFE Peninsula Chapter 682, including my former staff member Maggie Keator
It was a honor to attend the Air Combat Command Change of Command today, where General Ken Wilsbach relinquished command to General Adrian Spain
The Trump Administration is threatening to close Job Corps campuses across the country, taking away critical resources, job training opportunities, and housing for thousands of students.
Join me tonight to learn what we can do to fight back and save Job Corps.
If the president was serious about reducing crime in DC, he would not have sent a violent mob to the Capitol, he would not have pardoned more than 1,600 rioters, many of whom assaulted police officers, and he would have deployed the National Guard when they were actually needed on January 6th.
President Trump claimed crime is out of control in Washington, in spite of the fact that earlier this year the Department of Justice confirmed that crime in the District of Columbia is at a 30-year low.
President Trump’s plan to federalize Washington, D.C.’s Metropolitan Police Department and deploy the National Guard against Washingtonians has no legal or factual justification.
Congratulations to Poo Johnson, Antione Bethea, Maurice Pierce and the entire 15th Induction Class of the Athletic Hall of Fame of the Lower Virginia Peninsula

VA Secretary Collins stripping employees of their bargaining rights is the latest salvo in the Trump Administration’s war on veterans & working people.
The VA is already facing severe staffing issues because of the Trump Administration’s ongoing attacks on the federal workforce in recent months.

Trump abruptly fired the Bureau of Labor Statistics Commissioner after 3 months of weak job numbers. Now, Democrats are demanding a hearing.
Firing a nonpartisan official won’t change the fact that Trump's policies are hurting American workers. @bobbyscott.house.gov
