Trump and Musk are slashing our federal workforce and it will devastate services to our veterans and those who rely on the VA's care.

Additionally, the Republican budget jeopardizes Medicaid access for over 200,000 people in WA-09, including almost 92,000 children and 17,000 seniors, leaving them vulnerable to losing critical health care coverage.
Under the far-right budget, people in WA-09 will see their premiums skyrocket, making it harder for families to afford basic health care. For a 60-year-old couple in WA-09, premiums would soar by nearly $17,000, a staggering 234% increase.
Now, more than ever, we need to support American workers. I stand for promoting high quality jobs through increased wages and have always been on the side of bumping the federal minimum wage to $15 per hour. A fair salary supports those in our economy and spurs further growth.
The Trump tariff clown show is brutal for US businesses. The on/off chaotic, constantly changing approach means our businesses don’t know from one day to the next what their costs will be. Way too high tariffs can be bad. Chaos is worse.
How can transportation safety be prioritized in this environment of increased focus on efficiency and cost effectiveness? youtu.be/m5RVd2LxzBQ
DOGE’s mass layoffs have devastated hundreds of Washingtonians, just like Olson, across many federal agencies.
The President’s cuts to the VA jeopardize lifesaving care and are a slap in the face to Washington’s veterans. www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...
Two months ago, Army veteran Scott Olson was hired by the VA. Kent's Scott Olson had previously received cancer treatment at the Seattle VA and knew the importance of the VA’s work.
But, last week, Olson was unexpectedly fired via email because of Donald Trump and Elon Musk.
What the President is doing is immoral, unconstitutional and illegal and we will do all we can to stop his orders. www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...
Washington State is leading the way in the courts to oppose President Trump, spearheaded by AG Nick Brown. We are blocking the withdrawal of birthright citizenship, ending gender affirming care for minors, NIH cuts, federal funding freeze, and mass firings of probationary federal workers.
On March 6, 1857, the Dred Scott decision was passed down, stating that enslaved people were not citizens of the U.S. Though overturned by the 13th and 14th amendments, bigotry and hatred still exists in our nation, and we need actions and leaders who strike down racism.
The federal government oversees more than 44% of our state’s forest land. That’s thousands of acres that are now at risk of increased pollution, hurt wildlife, and damaged ecosystems due to Donald Trump’s reckless cuts at the Forest Service.
I’m hearing a lot of people express concerns about the Democratic response to President Trump’s State of the Union last night.
My statement on Trump's Joint Address.
I spoke with Seattle's Union Gospel Mission about the work they’re doing to treat the housing, homelessness, and drug epidemic in our community. By adding more housing, promoting mental health care, and providing logical solutions, Seattle will be a better city.
Strong unions combat economic inequality and uphold workers' rights, which is more important now than ever. I am proud to support the PRO Act to protect employees' rights to collectively bargain, crack down on worker misclassification, and authorize penalties to those who violate workers' rights.
As the son of a union member and baggage handler at SeaTac Airport, I am proud to be an original cosponsor on the bipartisan Richard L. Trumka Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act of 2025.
The President must rescind these reckless 25% tariffs and implement policies that actually help American workers. www.seattletimes.com/business/wha...
Donald Trump believes his trade war will only affect countries abroad, but his overly broad tariffs will hit Washingtonians hard. Slower exports could result in lost jobs, while more expensive imports may spur inflation.
