Congrats to David from Glenbrook North High School, my 2025 winner of the Congressional Artistic Discovery Competition! David’s piece “Building Blocks” is an important reminder for us all that we never have to fit a mold. Every moment, story, and experience shapes who we are.
For 13 years, DACA has given young people the ability to learn, grow, and transform their lives in the US. Now more than ever, we must find a pathway to citizenship for these students. Our diversity is our strength and is something that should be celebrated. #HomeIsHere
Happy Father’s Day! ❤️ To all the fathers and father figures in the 9th District, and across the country — today we celebrate you and the positive impact you have on those around you. Thank you for everything you do!
This morning’s attack in Minnesota is horrific and devastating. Political violence is never acceptable. My thoughts are with Sen. Hoffman and his wife as they battle to survive, and with Rep. Hortman’s family, loved ones and community. This violence must end.
I've said from the start that Donald Trump's firing of three Democratic @cpsc.gov Commissioners was illegal, and I'm glad to see the courts make it official. I look forward to continuing to work with Commissioners Hoehn-Saric, Trumka, and Boyle to help consumers know what they buy is safe.
Your private genetic data shouldn't be for sale, period. @ocasio-cortez.house.gov and I are leading our colleagues in demanding commitments from potential buyers of 23andMe. We need comprehensive data privacy legislation to ensure the personal data of all Americans is protected.
House Democrats sent letters to the potential buyers of the genetic testing company, asking how they plan to protect customer genetic data under a change of ownership. www.wired.com/story/congre...
I also couldn't pass up the opportunity to see my dear friend and former colleague @governorwalz.mn.gov! Thank you for always standing up for the rule of law and doing what is right.
Thank you for your strong leadership, @govpritzker.illinois.gov! Proud to work with you in serving the people of the greatest state in the nation.
Illinois follows the law — we expect the federal government to follow the law, too. We won't participate in abuses of power. We won't violate court orders. We won't ignore the Constitution. We won't defy the Supreme Court. We won't take away people’s right to peacefully protest.
@padilla.senate.gov, demanding answers, was literally dragged from a DHS event in his own state. This blatant assault on Congressional oversight by Secretary Noem is utterly abhorrent, & I agree with the Hispanic Caucus in calling for a full investigation into her & her agency's thuggish behavior.
Sen. Alex Padilla was just removed from Kristi Noem's press conference in Los Angeles (video: Bill Melugin/Fox News)
Today, we have the chance to refuse this blatant giveaway to Big Tech. States have stepped in to stop companies from profiling kids, spreading deepfakes, and harvesting your data. Republicans can vote NO to ensure we are protected. Don’t trade away state rights just to give Big Tech a free pass.
Hey Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene—you said you voted for the bill and you “would have voted NO if I had known [a provision preventing AI regulation] was in there.” You’re getting a second chance later today. Will you actually vote against it now?
David is my constituent. He suffers from cerebral palsy and relies on Medicaid to meet his basic needs. The GOP wants to kick millions, like David, off their health care. Cuts to Medicaid will kill people. Americans across the country are counting on us. Hands off Medicaid.
Donald Trump's decision to deploy the National Guard and active duty military personnel to California is nothing but a power grab. This is a blatant attack on our fundamental freedoms and sets a precedent for further abuse.
Your unwavering commitment to fairness, accountability, and justice will be sorely missed. I can assure you, we will continue to fight back as the Trump administration further empowers billionaires and corporate monopolies at the expense of American families.
Thank you, Commissioner Bedoya, for your dedication to consumers and America’s workers. We are deeply grateful for your leadership.   Throughout your tenure at the FTC, you have worked tirelessly to hold bad actors accountable and defend the public interest from corporate abuse and unchecked power.
To abide by ethics rules, today I'm stepping down as an FTC commissioner. I'm deeply grateful for the chance to have served my country in this way. I'll stay in our lawsuit against the President. And I look forward to building our ability to fight fraudsters and monopolists - outside of government.
Today, we #wearorange to honor all those who have lost their lives to gun violence, and those whose lives have been forever changed. Together, we can build a future free from gun violence. We need action NOW. #endgunviolence
Immigrants are our neighbors, our family, our friends. You’ve got a fighter on your side, and I’m prepared to help in any and every way that I can. To all those in the 9th District, and across the Chicago area, it’s crucial that you KNOW YOUR RIGHTS. schakowsky.house.gov/conozca-sus-...
As the daughter of immigrants and a representative of one of the most diverse and welcoming districts in the country, I'm heartbroken to learn of this cruel and disgusting ICE activity in Chicago.   Donald Trump and his administration only seek to divide us.
JUST IN: ICE mass arrests sparked chaos in Chicago's South Loop as activists fought to disrupt the operation. blockclubchi.co/454QHag
