Trump's cavalier attitude towards the future of Taiwan is dangerous and upends decades of American policy. There's no "strategic ambiguity" about Trump’s naive words. He is rolling out the red carpet for Xi in Taiwan.
Now it's time for Donald Trump and Senate Republicans to decide whether they'll work across the aisle to address the health care affordability crisis — or if they’ll turn their backs on millions of Americans struggling to stay covered.
The Iranian people are risking everything to speak out against a regime built on repression. I stand with the protestors demanding the government answer to its people instead of working to silence them.
The Iranian government is struggling to contain protests that began late last month with merchants in Tehran, which have now exploded into mass demonstrations and extended strikes in cities across the country.
He built a relentless, loyal team and a governing Democratic majority that got results. His sharp wit and tough tongue called out those who blocked progress and rallied those of us who championed it. I will deeply miss his wisdom and his friendship.
Steny Hoyer is a giant of American progress. For decades, he stood on the front lines for federal workers, civil rights, & working families — driving the ADA, strengthening Social Security & Medicare, & insisting that “Make It In America” meant real paychecks & real pride back home.
Rep. Steny Hoyer, the longest-serving Democrat in the House, will announce that he is not seeking re-election, a spokesperson for the congressman says.
I’m sorry to hear about Rep. LaMalfa’s passing. Last Congress, I was able to work closely with him to introduce the Wildfire Response Improvement Act to help communities better prepare for and respond to fire emergencies. I’m keeping his loved ones in my thoughts.

The best way for the U.S. to fight the Mexican cartels is by working through our security partnerships with the Mexican government. Trump's threats of unilateral military action jeopardizes our security and trade relationship with Mexico.
The message is clear: fall in line, or Trump will come for you. This authoritarian intimidation puts every veteran’s benefits at risk for political revenge. Our country — and the people who defend it — deserve better.
We need more Republicans in Congress to help reign in this president and re-establish the proper role of the U.S. Congress. This is not about partisanship; it’s about standing up for the Constitution, because the Constitution is worth fighting for.
