There are no words for the stunningly dangerous and incompetent sharing of highly classified defense materials by the Secretary of Defense. He must be held to account.
Happy Monday everyone! I’m back in D.C. tonight after a wonderful District Work Week back at home. It’s shaping up to be a strange week on Capitol Hill—but I’m looking forward to getting back home at the end of the week for more visits with our communities.
We’ll be back in Albuquerque on Friday!
7 years ago today, young people from across the country led the March for Our Lives demonstration in Washington DC. Their message: we need commonsense gun reform to save lives.
I call on my colleagues who have repeatedly blocked legislation to have the courage to stand up and help save lives.
As we head back to the fray in DC today—we wanted to send a message of hope and solidarity to the Trans and LGBTQ+ community across New Mexico and the country. We know it’s a difficult and frightening time—but we see you, we love you, and are fighting alongside you! ❤️
Now, more than ever, as our Constitution and checks and balances are being tested, we must ensure that the highest court in the land is protected.
That is why I introduced the Judicial Ethics Enforcement Act, to help to ensure accountability for the Supreme Court.
I was honored to join the Carrizozo Heritage Museum, Tularosa Downwinders, and Lincoln County Historical Society in the unveiling of a new exhibit honoring the downwinders impacted by the first atomic bomb test at the Trinity Site just out of town.
We won’t stop fighting until RECA passes!
Trump’s new tax plan is clear: ram through massive tax breaks for the 1 percent and big corporations at the expense of everybody else.
That’s why Elon Musk and DOGE are gutting vital programs like Medicaid and SNAP—to pay for those massive tax breaks.
Don’t forget to join us tomorrow!
Thank you to everyone who joined our virtual town hall earlier today! If you missed it, don’t worry! You can watch it here: youtu.be/IVYVdolXcDc
And don’t forget to keep an eye out for future town hall announcements!
Hunger is a policy choice. Trump and the GOP are CHOOSING to potentially let millions of Americans go hungry.
In NM, 1 in 5 kids experience food insecurity and over 470,000 New Mexicans use SNAP to supplement food and grocery needs. These are real New Mexicans who will suffer. We are fighting back!
That’s a wrap on day two of our tour of the East Mountains and Land Grants.
We spent time in Chilili, Tajique, and Manzano and wrapped up here in Mountainair for a school assembly! We will never stop fighting for our communities. ❤️
The GOP announced a DOGE Subcommittee hearing next week attacking public media. It’s clear this attack on NPR & PBS is part of a larger pattern by the Trump Admin and GOP of trying to silence free speech and dissent, while they continue to shield Elon Musk from the most basic public transparency.
This week we’re on the road, criss-crossing the district and meeting with communities from the Easy Mountains to Santa Rosa. Rain, snow, dust storm (!) or shine—we show up! Because that is what it’s all about and we are deeply proud and honored to represent our communities and fight for democracy!
Republican leadership has asked all GOP members to stop holding town halls with their constituents. They know their proposed cuts are not what Americans want, but instead of facing their communities, they’re hiding from them.
Not us though! Join me Friday for a virtual town hall!
We’re on the road today in New Mexico’s 1st Congressional District—and we’re here in Santa Rosa at the Guadalupe County Hospital. These are the dedicated people who make it happen! And, this is why we need to expand rural healthcare, not take it away! #SaveMedicaid
Navajo Code Talkers were instrumental in the United States and our allies winning World War II. Erasing their stories from military websites is a dishonor to their memories, our veterans, and beyond appalling.
Indigenous history is American history and we must remember the heroes who served.
Last year, NM imported ~$2.3B in goods from Mexico and $855 million in goods from Canada.
Food and housing costs are soaring. Trump’s tariffs will only make things more expensive for hard working New Mexicans.
Not to mention, it's throwing us into trade wars with some of our closest allies!
