Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. devoted his life to creating a world where peace prevails over violence, and triumph rises over division. On his birthday, let us let’s recommit ourselves to his vision of peace and unity, working together towards a more just New Mexico and beyond.
We deserve leaders who possess the deepest respect for public service and all individuals, and who can lead with integrity. Pete Hegseth does not share that same sense of respect and responsibility, and I stand firmly against his appointment as Secretary of Defense.
Let me be clear: Anyone with a direct financial conflict of interest in DOGE or any other committee should not be able to use the committee for their own profit. It’s wrong and unethical. That's why I offered an amendment to the House Oversight Committee saying just that.
I am heartbroken at the passing of Dr. Harold Bailey. As President of the NAACP and a New Mexico leader, he was a pillar in the community, mentor to many and cared deeply about making the world a better place. His work on civil rights and early education will be remembered for generations.
Rep. Alcon was a fierce advocate for our people, the economy, the environment and our Veterans. My prayers are with his family and everyone who loved and learned from Rep. Alcon. His loss will be deeply felt at the Roundhouse and across this state. Rest in Peace dear friend, we will miss you.
In New Mexico, we know water is life, which is why we have been fighting to increase funding for community water infrastructure projects through WRDA, signed into law this last week. We are proud to have secured authorization for these transformative projects!
In NM, Indigenous people make up almost 1/4 of human trafficking victims. This crisis demands action. If you or a loved one are in crisis, please call the National Human Trafficking Hotline: 1-888-373-7888. You can also call the NM Human Trafficking Unit: 505-717-3500.
Since taking office, I've secured more than $44M in Community Project Funding for early childhood education, water infrastructure, public safety and drug detection technology, behavioral health, and so much more. I'll never stop fighting for what our communities deserve!
In the 118th Congress, my office closed 796 pieces of casework and responded to 198,000 letters. The work we do is rooted in community, and we will always work to ensure your needs are met! To contact us call (202) 225-6316 or (505) 346-6781 or visit stansbury.house.gov/services/hel...!
Thank you Albuquerque, Bernalillo, Los Alamos, San Juan, and Santa Fe Fire Departments! To the firefighters and first responders out there on the frontlines headed to LA to help with devastating fires in CA to serving here at home—you are heroes! THANK YOU for all that you do!
As we celebrate President Jimmy Carter’s life today—we remember him as a great leader and a humanitarian, who dedicated his life to making our world a better place. He has left an indelible mark on our nation. His legacy will live on for generations. May he rest in peace.
14 years ago, Rep. Gabby Giffords survived an attempted assassination, but the lives of six others were taken. Since then, gun violence has claimed the lives of hundreds. My work is rooted in community, and I will work to ensure our communities are safe from gun violence.
In the 118th Congress, I introduced 19 bills to help our communities! This included protections for our public lands, expanding pay for nurses, protections for rail workers, and more! In the 119th, I'm focused on the housing crisis, homelessness, and behavioral health.
