Ms. Brown was originally issued the incorrect medal, and when Team Scholten learned of this error, we acted swiftly to ensure she received the correct medal for her grandfather’s honorable service to our country.
I was honored to present my constituent, Beverly Brown, with her late grandfather’s military medal from his service during World War I. Her grandfather, Benjamin “Ben” Johnson, served as a private in the United States Army from 1918 to 1919 before being honorably discharged.
Republicans’ so-called “Big, Beautiful Bill” is anything BUT big and beautiful. It’s bad accounting, bad policy, and bad for West Michigan. I hosted a virtual discussion with Michigan Sen. McCann and Rep. Glanville to talk about the dangers of this bill and how it will affect West Michiganders.
No. Unacceptable. Rep. Fine should immediately apologize to @repilhan.bsky.social and House Leadership. This rhetoric is inflammatory, dangerous, and puts us all in greater jeopardy as we do our jobs in Congress. We must all come together to condemn this violent language.
It's estimated that 123,000 Michiganders are going to lose food assistance due to the Republicans' Big Ugly Bill. That was just one of the reasons I voted NO. I spoke to WZZM about my work to fight for West Michiganders and the benefits they deserve.
I’m proud to join Senator Adam Schiff, @delauro.house.gov, and @repvindman.bsky.social to lead the BEACON Act – a bill that would strengthen the oversight necessary to protect taxpayer dollars, prevent abuse of power, and promote trust in our public institutions.
Great to tour the new home of David’s House Ministries, where our adult neighbors with disabilities can live full lives with the support they deserve. Recent Republican-led slashes to Medicaid will devastate David’s House and the livelihood of many residents who rely on this program for their care.
The Great Lakes Observing System (GLOS) is integral to supporting Great Lakes communities to safeguard residents and local economies, but administrative delays at OMB are putting GLOS funding at risk.
I'm praying for the families of the victims of the flash flooding in Texas over the weekend. As they brace for more intense rain this week, my thoughts are also with the first responders and search and rescue crews working tirelessly to save lives. www.cnn.com/weather/live...
I’m a fierce advocate for our agricultural community, including West Michigan dairy producers. I enjoyed touring Fairlife’s Coopersville plant to learn more about their day-to-day operations and impact on our local community.
I’m supportive of an all-of-the-above energy approach. Innovating in the energy space will slash emissions, create jobs, save consumers money, and ensure America’s dominance on the global stage. Great to tour Walker View Mobil to learn more about their energy innovation.
Great to meet with West Michigan franchisees of Buffalo Wild Wings in Grand Rapids this week and shake up some wings alongside their hardworking employees! Our franchise owners are crucial members of our local economy and continue delivering for West Michiganders.
At a time when President Trump and the Republican Party are cutting back the services and funding that support our veterans, now more than ever, we must recommit ourselves to supporting those who gave so much for our freedom.
