While #NationalReadingMonth doesn’t officially start until tomorrow, the kiddos at Dickinson Academy, Buchanan Elementary, and Gerald R. Ford Academic Center BOOKED it to their libraries and started turning pages today! We just couldn’t wait! It was so fun to read with these bright young students. 📚
As the daughter of a sports reporter, I know the importance of public broadcasting services to keeping folks informed and entertained. I met with Jim Rademaker from WGVU to ensure their concerns are heard about cuts to funding and a potential government shutdown. Let’s keep public radio on the air!📡

In commemoration of Black History Month, I took to the House floor to highlight some incredible Black West Michiganders integral to the history of our community. I was honored to speak about these trailblazers & feel proud to represent a district where we know our diversity is what makes us great.
Franchisees are the bedrock of small businesses across the country and I was happy to meet with McDonald’s franchisees today to talk all things small business. As a Small Business Committee member, I’m committed to ensuring entrepreneurs & small business owners have the support they need to thrive.
House Republicans are deflecting their plans to gut Medicaid by saying the WORD Medicaid is not in the budget proposal. But you know what they’re NOT SAYING? That they WON’T cut Medicaid. That is a critical difference and we need to hold them accountable.
West Michiganders are speaking up and letting me know that they want someone to push back on Trump and Musk's harmful agenda.
I'm more than ready for the job.
I’m committed to working with my partners in Michigan & colleagues on @transportdems.bsky.social to keep Americans safe in the skies. Great to meet with MI Dept. of Transportation Aeronautics Director Bryan Budds to deepen our partnership in serving all travelers who fly through the Mitten State.
I'm proud to stand with our democratic ally, Ukraine, and every Ukrainian fighting for freedom. I hosted Ukrainians from MI-03 in D.C. to hear their perspectives and stories three years after Russia's illegal invasion.
Now the bill moves to the Senate, where I hope Republican senators will see this for what it really is and vote NO.
Make no mistake: House Republicans are celebrating because they successfully voted to rip away health care, food assistance, and more, while handing TRILLIONS of your hard-earned dollars to billionaires. This is no cause for celebration—families, children, seniors, and veterans are going to suffer.🧵
I won’t stand for it. West Michiganders deserve better. Alongside my @housedemocrats.bsky.social colleagues, I’m here to remind the American people that we are fighting for THEM — not the top 1%.
House Republicans, Trump and Musk have unleashed chaos on the American people while doing nothing to address the country’s affordability crisis. They threaten to cut food, health care, environmental protections, crucial infrastructure projects, and more. 🧵
Rep. Barrett and I are reintroducing my bill today, and I encourage my colleagues to support our Coasties and pass it through the House.
My bipartisan Pay Our Coast Guard Parity Act would ensure the brave men and women who risk their lives to protect our maritime borders and respond to emergencies are paid for their service.
We’re just over two weeks away from a potential government shutdown, and once again, our @uscg.bsky.social members could be left without pay. 🧵

West Michigan, I just landed in Washington and am ready to get straight to work. We have some crucial votes, committee work, and more coming up this week, and I’ll be sure to stay in touch as Team Scholten continues to work for you.
Truckers are essential to West Michigan’s economy, and I’m determined to advocate for them. I’m asking Transportation Secretary Duffy to move quickly to ensure our nation's emergency preparedness by boosting trucker safety and bolstering recruitment efforts.
