The path forward is never easy, but it is made possible – and bearable – through the power of love, support and community.
I’m keeping President Biden and his family in my prayers during this difficult time. Wishing him strength and a full recovery.
My heart sank when I heard that that President Biden has been diagnosed with cancer – the same kind my dad battled with everything he had. It’s a terrible disease that takes a physical and emotional toll not only on those diagnosed, but on their families and loved ones as well.
As we grieve this immense loss, I’m deeply thankful for the outpouring of love and support from friends, family, colleagues, and constituents.
My father, Tony Loureiro, passed away Tuesday after a long, courageous battle with multiple sclerosis and cancer. Our hearts are broken, but my family and I are profoundly grateful for the remarkable life he lived and the legacy he leaves behind.
Philip and millions of Americans across our country like him are not fat to be trimmed or waste to be rooted out by disingenuous politicians in Washington – they’re hardworking Americans trying to live their lives with dignity. They need Congress to protect Medicaid – not rip away their lifelines.

The GOP Tax Scam takes health care away from nearly 14 million Americans, including kicking more than 8 million people off Medicaid.
On today’s Democratic Daily Download, @degette.house.gov explains how we are fighting to stop this disastrous bill.

The Republican budget cuts food assistance to help pay for tax cuts for billionaires. On today’s Democratic Daily Download, @repshontelbrown.bsky.social shows how House Democrats are fighting back every step of the way.
Over the past 26 hours, House Republicans have rejected every single Democratic amendment – amendments that would have protected Americans’ health care, lowered out-of-pocket costs for working families, kept pollution out of our children’s schools, and so much more.

The Republican plan for the largest cut to food assistance in history will leave everyday Americans hungrier and poorer— all to fund tax breaks for billionaires.
@repangiecraig.bsky.social explains how cutting basic needs programs will make life harder for kids, farmers, seniors and veterans.
America has the highest rate of preventable maternal deaths among developed nations.
That didn't stop Republicans from voting to gut Medicaid, which covers 4 in 10 births nationwide.
I called them out for pouring gasoline on the maternal health crisis.
Disabled Americans, parents, and caregivers came to Washington to defend Medicaid from GOP cuts that would fund tax breaks for billionaires.
The Republican response? Arrest them.
The sun is rising here in Washington. 16 hours into the markup in Energy & Commerce, Democrats are continuing to fight for Americans’ health care.
We still have a vote coming up on the House floor – possibly as soon as next week.
All we need is a handful of Republicans to stand up for their constituents and stand against this blatant corruption.
If they do that, this bill is dead.
If you're as pissed off about this as I am, there's a sliver of good news:
The big, ugly Republican reconciliation bill hasn't made it out of the House yet.
And while the GOP is protecting Big Tech, they’re ripping health care away from millions – cutting Medicaid, raising premiums and abandoning seniors and children with disabilities.
This isn’t just cruel. It’s corrupt.
To be clear, Congress should update these laws – that should've happened years ago. But billions of dollars in tech lobbying money have halted any amount of progress to update our privacy and tech laws.
State lawmakers stepped in instead. Now, Republicans are shutting them down.
It's clear who this GOP proposal benefits – and who it hurts.
If you’re a tech billionaire? You’re thrilled.
If you’re a parent? You’re on your own.
Hidden in their bill is a blanket ban on state laws that regulate Big Tech – especially around AI, deepfakes, kids’ safety and privacy.
That means for the next 10 years, states won't be able to protect you or your children from the harms of AI and dangerous tech – no exceptions.
🚨 Republicans are trying to gut health care for 14 million Americans – and sneak in a massive giveaway to Big Tech while they’re at it.
Seriously. This is what they’re doing:🧵
