The EPA has experts who research toxins in our air, water, and soil. But Trump is trying to illegally shut down EPA research laboratories – removing a critical service that keeps our communities safe.  It’s unacceptable and I joined Rep. Zoe Lofgren in calling on the EPA to restore this office.
Every year, from June 1 to November 30, Rhode Island faces the Atlantic hurricane season with more frequent storms and disruption. If the President was really concerned about “merit” he would have hired a FEMA director who knows what hurricane season is and how it can hurt Americans.
Help break ground on the new Crossroads RI Health and Housing Apartments that will support our neighbors who’ve faced homelessness and medical challenges. This project will build a future of hope and dignity and a supportive, health-focused place to call home.🏡
At the Portuguese Discovery Monument in Newport, we kicked off this week’s Day of Portugal celebrations by raising the Portuguese flag with Day if Portugal RI and the Vasco de Gama Society. 🇵🇹
Hard-working Latina entrepreneurs like Auras Chocolate are building companies, seizing opportunities, and spurring economic growth. Thank you to RI Hispanic Chamber’s Latina Women in Business event for fostering connections, support, and community among these resilient leaders.
No American should be targeted just for living openly as who they are and Jewish Americans must be able to gather without fear. My thoughts are with the victims and their loved ones.
Happy Pride Month, Rhode Island.🏳️‍🌈   In the face of attacks from Republicans in Congress and Trump’s White House, this Pride, I am joining my @equality.house.gov colleagues to stand up for equality and celebrate the contributions LGBTQI+ community.
Built between 1798 and 1857, Fort Adams protected Rhode Island’s coastline from the War of 1812 through WWII. Fort Adams Trust’s restoration of this Newport landmark will allow this historic site to welcome tourists and bolster our local economy for another 250+ years.
Joined in Rumford with Senator Jack Reed to see HAVOC AI’s next gen autonomous marine vessel prototype. Right on the Seekonk River, they’re marrying AI and marine technologies for commercial and defense use. Future thinking companies like this are becoming integral to our #BlueEconomy.
Republican cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, and SNAP will hurt older Rhode Islanders like those I visited with at Franklin Court Independent Living in Bristol.    Seniors rely on these programs to age with dignity. I’m fighting to #StopTheCuts every step of the way.
Our congressional delegation will always have the backs of RI’s librarians, libraries, and the people they serve, while fighting for every penny they deserve.
Growing up, I loved the Pawtucket Public Library — it opened up worlds for me. Trump’s attacks on libraries and their funding hurt the quest for knowledge and the pursuit of opportunity for countless Americans.
BIG WIN: The U.S. Court of International Trade blocked Trump's dangerous and chaotic tariffs that have hurt Rhode Island’s small businesses and raised costs for consumers.   This ruling reaffirms that the President cannot overstep the Constitution, nor Congress.
Investing in our state’s transportation strengthens our economy & communities and the Construction Industries of Rhode Island is leading the way. Congrats to their 6 extraordinary RI scholarship winners who’ll build our bright future!
Elon Musk’s chainsaw attack on the federal government is apparently coming to an end. We’ll remain vigilant and work to repair all that he broke.
In cutting to the bone of scientific research and slashing critical USAID programs, the Trump administration is putting America last. I’m joining my colleagues to demand that Trump end the chaos wrought by DOGE and Elon Musk once and for all.
