I am encouraged by reports that Hamas has agreed to a ceasefire. There is still uncertainty, but I am hopeful for the speedy return of all of the hostages and an immediate influx of humanitarian aid for Palestinians.
My GOP colleagues passed a discriminatory trans school sports ban that could mandate the kind of invasive and demeaning tests like this example. Students should be able to participate in school sports without being interrogated about deeply personal information.
In Florida, a 15-year-old girl was the subject of a police investigation that involved armed officers asking her teammates if they had ever seen her nude and a 500-page report detailing changes in her body weight and notes from her guidance counselor--all because she wanted to play volleyball
Immigrants make innumerable contributions to our communities. Thank you, President Biden, for extending the Temporary Protected Status for people from Venezuela, El Salvador, and Ukraine—many who fled their home countries under threat of violence and persecution. www.npr.org/2025/01/10/n...

"Will students have to undergo exams to prove that they are a girl? We are already seeing reports of harassment." "I want to be clear, there are real problems harming women and girls in sports, but trans students are not why... sexual harassment, lack of equal resources"

Rep Suzanne Bonamici: "This bill would make sports more dangerous for women and girls. It would empower child predators. It would affect every sport from K-12 to Colleges." "As of last month, of 510,000 NCAA athletes, only 10 are transgender"
I led my colleagues in opposition to a discriminatory anti-trans school sports ban, a dangerous bill that, if passed, would subject students to privacy violation and harassment in enforcement.
On Korean American Day we recognize when the first Korean immigrants arrived in the U.S. in 1903. More than a century later, Korean Americans continue to be valuable members of our community in NW Oregon and across the country.
These healthcare providers deserve fair pay and safe working conditions, and I am hopeful that Providence and the Oregon Nurses Association can negotiate a contract that respects the work of everyone on strike.
Oregon is getting $2 million from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to improve safety on TV Hwy! @repsalinas and I represent communities in this area, and we know this grant will help address the lack of sidewalks and safe crossings that put people at risk.
GOOD NEWS: @usdot.bsky.social announced $2 million in federal funding to improve safety on the Tualatin Valley Highway in #WashingtonCounty! @repbonamici.bsky.social & I represent Oregonians who commute on this highway, & ensuring that you have safe & reliable roads to travel on is a top priority.

I realize this is the wrong media platform to counter the “X” narrative that Oregon fire service strike teams are being “stopped” at the CA border, but ARGH! Each team goes through routine engine inspections to ensure there aren’t mechanical issues that could create safety predicaments. That’s it.
