This is a deliberate effort to erode trust in Social Security and dismantle it piece by piece.

Now, the Trump administration is escalating those attacks, sabotaging the Social Security Administration from within by cutting its workforce, closing field offices, breaking online services, and forcing Americans to wait in hours-long waits just to access the benefits they have earned.
For years, Republicans have tried to slash benefits, undermine the program, and pave the way for privatization.
Social Security is not a handout. It’s a lifeline. It’s the difference between stability and crisis for seniors, veterans, people with disabilities, surviving spouses, and millions more. But that lifeline is under attack.
Today, more than 70 million Americans, including over 140,000 in Ventura County and the Conejo Valley, rely on this essential program to pay rent, buy groceries and prescriptions, and stay afloat.
Since then, Social Security has become one of the most successful and trusted programs in our nation’s history.
90 years ago today, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act into law – a historic promise that in America, growing old or living with a disability should not mean living in poverty.
Stories like this are a powerful reminder of why we must keep fighting for every veteran to receive the benefits and recognition they have earned. I am grateful for GCVF’s steadfast advocacy and look forward to continuing our strong partnership to serve those who have served our nation.
I am especially inspired by their work to secure retroactive benefits and an upgraded discharge status for a local veteran wrongfully discharged under the military’s cruel “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy.
I recently caught up with Gold Coast Veterans Foundation, a valued partner to my office in serving local veterans, and welcomed Beckie Cramer to the helm of this wonderful organization.
Their staff and volunteers work tirelessly to make sure our veterans and their families are recognized for their service and sacrifice.
For almost two decades, Gold Coast Veterans Foundation has been on the frontlines of combating veteran homelessness and ensuring #VenturaCounty veterans receive high-quality care when and where they need it.
Leaders like Siena give me hope for the future of our democracy, and I can’t wait to see all she will accomplish in the classroom and on the campaign trail!
I recently had the opportunity to meet with Siena from Agoura Hills, a dedicated Girl Scout running for student council. She asked thoughtful questions about the legislative process, and I loved hearing about her goals and her passion for making a difference.
Our youth throughout #VenturaCounty and the Conejo Valley are stepping up as the next generation of leaders!
Our Summer 2025 interns understood the assignment! 🎯
From answering calls to helping prepare for hearings (and everything in between), they brought energy, heart, and a great sense of humor to Capitol Hill.
