Pleased to see the Senate vote to send the Social Security Fairness Act to President Biden’s desk!  I proudly supported this bipartisan effort to repeal harmful provisions that reduced the benefits earned by America’s teachers, firefighters, and other dedicated public servants.
Going into the closely divided 119th Congress, we must work together to govern through bipartisanship and compromise–– not brinksmanship via tweet. Read my statement on why I voted to avert a government shutdown ⬇️
STATEMENT: Rep. Ami Bera Votes for Continuing Resolution to Avert Government Shutdown
This is not a game. Shutting down the government would have real-world consequences for millions of Americans. I urge Speaker Johnson to stand up to the extreme voices in his party and honor the deal both parties spent months negotiating.
Speaker Johnson agreed to a bipartisan deal to fund the government and provide relief to Americans still reeling from natural disasters. Then, Elon Musk started tweeting. It's time for Speaker Johnson to honor his word and stop with the dramatics. Let's get this done.
The recent drone sightings are a wake-up call. I joined Chris Cuomo and Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) to address misconceptions about the drones and the need for Democrats and Republicans to work together to address this fast-evolving technology.
This heartbreaking tragedy is another painful reminder of the gun violence epidemic facing our nation and comes just after we marked 12 years since the horrific shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School this weekend.
I applaud POTUS for taking this important step in establishing the Countering Economic Coercion Task Force! This task force was authorized by my bill, the Countering China Economic Coercion Act, to strengthen America's ability to defend and deter against coercive economic tactics by the PRC.
Two years ago today, President Biden signed the Respect for Marriage Act into law! I proudly voted YES to ensure that no LGBTQI+ or interracial couple will ever have to fear that their marriage will be invalidated by extreme politicians or the Supreme Court. Love is love.
It is my hope that the United States will play a constructive role in supporting the Syrian people as they strive to build a society free from terrorism, state violence, and oppression while protecting religious and ethnic minority communities including the Syrian Kurds, Yezidis, and Chaldeans.
Today, America remembers and honors the 2,403 servicemembers and civilians who lost their lives in the attack on Pearl Harbor. Our nation will forever be grateful to the World War II veterans who answered the call to defend freedom and democracy in the aftermath of this tragedy.
America's relationship with South Korea is built on a shared commitment to democracy and democratic ideals. I joined my fellow co-chairs of the Congressional Caucus on Korea in urging calm, peace, and a return to democratic and constitutional order in South Korea.
Today, U.S. Representative Ami Bera, M.D. (D-CA-06) issued a joint statement with his fellow Co-Chairs of the Congressional Caucus on Korea, Representatives Gerald E. Connolly (D-VA-11), Joe Wilson (R-SC-02), and Mike Kelly (R-PA-16), regarding the political unrest in the Republic of Korea:

“The US-ROK relationship is built on a shared commitment to democracy and democratic ideals.

“South Korea’s institutions have proven resilient and must continue to stand firm. As we continue to monitor these events, we join those urging calm, peace, and a return to democratic, constitutional order.”
Deeply honored to serve as Whip for the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus in the next Congress! I look forward to working with this new leadership team to advance CAPAC’s vital mission.
