Four years ago today, Vladimir Putin illegally invaded the sovereign nation of Ukraine.
I visited Ukraine just weeks before the invasion. 🧵

President Trump is a troll. I expect him to use tomorrow’s speech in our Nation’s Capitol — a building I hold sacred — to troll both my Democratic and Republican colleagues.
I refuse to participate in this spectacle.

This ruling does not put an end to President Trump’s chaotic & unstable behavior.
My Republican colleagues need to join us in clearly reasserting Congress’ authority over tariffs to restore stability & predictability for American consumers, businesses, & our trading partners.
The Supreme Court got it right today.
President Trump never had the power to impose these sweeping tariffs that raised costs for working families, hurt small businesses, & strained our alliances around the world.
Wishing a meaningful start to Lent to all those observing Ash Wednesday across Sacramento County.
May this season be a time for reflection, humility, and renewed commitment to caring for our neighbors and one another.
If you’re in the area, please continue to follow guidance from local authorities as hazardous conditions persist.
Janine and I are heartbroken by this news and extend our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones impacted by this tragedy.
We are grateful for the first responders who continue to brave dangerous conditions amidst ongoing recovery efforts.

If you’re in the area, follow guidance from local authorities and heed avalanche and winter storm warnings.
My office is closely monitoring the backcountry avalanche near Truckee.
We’re grateful to the first responders working in high avalanche danger and highly dangerous weather conditions, and we’re praying for everyone’s safe return and recovery.

Ramadan Mubarak!
Wishing Muslims in Sacramento County and around the world a peaceful and reflective holy month.
May this Ramadan bring blessings to you and your loved ones.
Wishing a happy Lunar New Year to everyone celebrating in Sacramento County and around the world!
I hope the new year brings happiness and prosperity to you and your loved ones.
His leadership brought more voices into our democratic process and challenged America to live up to its highest ideals.
Our thoughts are with his family, loved ones, and the countless people he inspired through a lifetime of courageous leadership and service.
Janine and I are saddened to learn of the passing of the Reverend Jesse Jackson.
A giant of the Civil Rights Movement, Reverend Jackson devoted his life to making our nation fairer and more just.
After watching Trump run roughshod over the Constitution, display utter disregard for Congress, & openly engage in corruption as he & his family use the office to enrich themselves and tarnish this country that I love, I will not give him the dignity of having my presence at the State of the Union.
These heartfelt Valentine’s Day cards—made by elementary school students across our community—were hand-delivered by my team to Veterans at the VA hospital in Mather to thank them for their service and sacrifice to our nation.
Happy Valentine’s Day, Sacramento County! 💌
I want to thank every school that participated in my office’s annual Valentines for Veterans program.
The "SAVE America Act" goes far beyond requiring a photo ID to vote.
It is a deliberate effort by President Trump and Republicans to disenfranchise millions of Americans from the ballot box.
I am voting NO.

This morning, I had the honor of greeting Buddhist monks as they completed their Walk for Peace.
The monks walked 2,300 miles to raise awareness and mindfulness in their journey for peace.
We can all learn from their example as we work to heal and bridge the divides in our nation.
American consumers are paying the price for Trump’s tariffs.
Tonight’s vote brings us one step closer to reasserting Congress’ Article I authority over tariffs and delivering relief for the American people.
Cal OES coordinates and supports our state’s response to wildfires, earthquakes, floods, and other natural disasters.
I’m grateful to Ian and the entire team at Cal OES for the work they do to keep us safe.
