Republicans created a health care crisis — and they won’t return to work to fix it.
Open enrollment starts in just a few days, and premiums are about to skyrocket. For some Californians, they could double or even triple in cost.
Republicans’ health care crisis puts key resources like Via Care Community Health Center and people that rely on them at risk. @housedemocrats.bsky.social are standing up to fight to reopen the government and address the crisis so that people can continue to access affordable care.
Americans deserve to be able to access care when they need it, no matter their income. Clinics like Via Care Community Health Center in #SouthGate provide preventative care, urgent care, and other services for low-income communities.
We also want to know if you received notice that your health care premium will increase next year. Call us or share at bit.ly/premiumstory.
Democrats are fighting for you. If you would like to share how the Republican shutdown is affecting you or need assistance with a federal agency, we are HERE to help. Call my office at 310-831-1799 or visit barragan.house.gov.
Our office is OPEN.
It has been 29 days since Republicans shut down the government, but our office has been hard at work to support you.
@housedemocrats.bsky.social stand with you — we’ll take your stories to Washington and fight to address Republicans’ health care crisis and reopen the government.
Americans across our district and around the country, like George and Saul, need Congress to extend the health care tax credits so they can continue to afford care.
Our constituent George, who lives in #Paramount, gets care through Covered California for his health conditions that forced him to retire early. Saul’s Covered California coverage helps take care of him, his wife, and their 10-year-old daughter in #SouthGate.

It’s time Republicans return from their month-long vacation and work with @housedemocrats.bsky.social to reopen the government and address the health care crisis so Americans can continue to access the critical services they need — like SNAP.
No American should have to worry about whether they can afford their next meal.
Today, I held a press conference with the Toberman Neighborhood Center and the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank on how SNAP benefits will run out of funds this week.
@housedemocrats.bsky.social stand with the American people and won’t stop fighting to save food assistance, lower the cost of health care, and reopen the government.
Republicans have now attacked health care and SNAP funding TWICE this year! SNAP funding is about to run out because of the Trump/Republican shutdown — the program provides vital food assistance to feed over 41 MILLION Americans.

ATTENTION #CA44: Vote Centers for the special election on Proposition 50 are now open in L.A. County!
Proposition 50 is a ballot measure that requires the temporary use of new Congressional district maps through 2030.
@housedemocrats.bsky.social stand with the American people and against Republicans’ attacks on affordable health care, food assistance, and their refusal to reopen the government.
Trump and Republicans cut food assistance in their Big, Ugly Law, and now they refuse to use contingency funds to feed Americans and their families. I signed a letter urging USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins to use the funds set aside to make sure Americans can put food on the table in November.
