Emanuel Cleaver

Emanuel Cleaver II is an American politician and United Methodist pastor serving as the U.S. representative for Missouri's 5th congressional district since 2005. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served as the 51st mayor of Kansas City, Missouri, from 1991 to 1999, becoming the first Black person to hold that role.

At every opportunity to turn the temperature down and bring the country together, the president instead chooses to dial it up and divide the nation. It’s deeply disappointing and extremely dangerous. Political violence must be condemned universally.

This is real leadership. Political violence is an attack on all of us, and we all must come together to condemn it whenever it rears its ugly, despicable head.
