More recklessness and incompetence from the Defense Secretary that undermines America’s national security. He should resign or be fired before an entirely avoidable catastrophe occurs.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth shared detailed information about strikes in Yemen to a second unclassified Signal group chat that included his wife and brother, people familiar with the matter said. nyti.ms/4jBQ1wV

“One longtime Kansas City economic researcher said he believes the region could lose 6,000 good-paying federal jobs, which in turn would wipe out thousands of others in service industries.” The result of Elon Musk’s reckless cuts to government services. apnews.com/article/doge...
Pope Francis was a force for good, who led with grace, humility, and love for all of God’s children. May his memory be a blessing to all, and may his legacy inspire us to continue the work to build a more just and righteous world for the generations to come.
Pope Francis died at 88, the Vatican announced Monday, ending a pontificate that sought to reshape the Roman Catholic Church into a more inclusive institution. Cardinals will now decide whether to continue his approach or restore more doctrinaire leadership. Follow live updates: nyti.ms/42RZB9n

During Easter, we rejoice in the miracle of the resurrection of Jesus Christ and delight in the love and blessings of this holy day. Wishing all those observing in #MO05 and around the world a very happy Easter!
Only 25% of eligible families currently receive federal rental assistance to help afford rent, with many more on a waitlist and in need of help. Gutting the voucher program as homelessness & housing prices are on a historic rise is deeply cruel and will have a devastating impact on our communities.
NEW: President Trump is preparing a budget with deep cuts to federal housing programs, including vouchers for the poor. Today, the admin took steps to sell HUD headquarters, and so far, about 2300 workers have taken "deferred resignation" offers to leave. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/17/u...
My heart breaks for the families of the victims, those injured, and the entire Florida State community as they reel from the latest mass shooting in America. There are steps we can take to protect America’s schools and universities—but Congress must have the courage to ACT, not just pray.
The gunman accused of killing at least two people and injuring six others on Thursday in a shooting at Florida State University is a current student at the school and his mother is a sheriff’s deputy, officials said. Here's what we know so far.
Head Start has played a pivotal role in providing childcare and early childhood education to working class families in #MO05 and communities across the country for decades. Congressional Republicans must stand up to protect these vital services. www.usatoday.com/story/news/e...
America has a long & righteous history of providing safe harbor for those fleeing persecution abroad. As the Trump Administration continues its work to decimate avenues for legal immigration, I’m proud to join @repyassansari.bsky.social in the fight to reinstate the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program.
Proud to lead 40+ of my colleagues in calling on Sec. Rubio to reinstate the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program. Refugees fleeing violence and persecution deserve to be welcomed— that's the promise of America. I'm fighting to make that happen.
Credit unions are pivotal to providing banking services on Main Street, ensuring every American, regardless of socioeconomic status, has access. The political & illegal firing of Democratic Board Members at the independent NCUA is a threat to credit unions & consumers. It can't be allowed to stand
President Trump just fired two board members at the National Credit Union Administration in his latest attack on consumers. Yet another attempt by Trump to skirt the rule of law, undermine independent agencies, and illegally purge the government of those working for Americans.
As housing costs & homelessness are on a historic rise, we need an all-hands-on-deck approach to ensuring every American has a safe place to rest their head at night. Unfortunately, the president continues to take actions that will exacerbate the crisis. www.npr.org/2025/04/16/n...
President Trump’s reckless trade war and tariff taxes, implemented with the permission of congressional Republicans, continue to devastate the retirement portfolios and pensions of seniors across the country. At what point will the GOP end this self-inflicted crisis?

The Trump Administration and Congressional Republicans are cutting federal grants that support critical research into illnesses like cancer, Alzheimer’s, and diabetes to pay for tax cuts for billionaires like Elon Musk. It’s shameful. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...
I’m grateful to @vanhollen.senate.gov for his leadership in the fight to bring Kilmar Abrego Garcia home. This is not about partisanship or politics—it’s about adhering to constitutional protections of due process, following court orders, and defending the rule of law.
I’m about to board my flight to El Salvador, where I hope to meet with senior government officials to discuss the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia. I also hope to see Kilmar and check on his condition — and remind him that we won’t stop fighting until he’s home.
I was proud to secure $4 million in funding to support the new pedestrian mall project in the 18th & Vine Jazz District, which will attract more visitors & support local businesses in the area. I’ll keep fighting for investments that support communities across KC! www.kansascity.com/news/local/a...
That’s why I joined @repbeatty.bsky.social and @repbradsherman.bsky.social in calling on the Trump Administration to protect the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness and other federal homelessness resources.
