Most seniors on Social Security in #MO05 don’t have a billionaire as an in-law. Missing out on a Social Security check would mean forgoing food, rent, or medications. But President Trump’s cabinet of MAGA billionaires think whoever complains about cuts to Social Security aren’t real Americans.
BREAKING: Trump's billionaire Commerce Secretary says that seniors won't care if they don't get their Social Security checks — and that anyone who does complain is a fraudster.
As President Trump and Republicans in Congress pursue their extreme, chaotic agenda—which includes gutting federal services and firing federal workers to fund tax cuts for billionaires—layoffs are on the rise, costs continue to go up, and the economy slowing.
Layoff announcements are on rise, with job cuts at their highest since the pandemic. My @morningjoe-msnbc.bsky.social Chart
As we recognize Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month, I’m proud to stand with my friend @repcohen.bsky.social to introduce bipartisan legislation that would finally provide federal funding to research cerebral palsy, the most common life-long physical disability impacting Americans today.
President Trump and Elon Musk believe local libraries and museums should be defunded. Whether it’s the KC Public Library, National WWI Museum and Memorial, or the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, I’ll always fight to defend federal funding for our local landmarks. www.kansascity.com/news/politic...
Republican cuts to Medicaid would harm nearly 160,000 Missourians in #MO05 and more than 1 million across the state, devastate rural healthcare, and raise costs on hardworking families. We must stand together to #ProtectOurCare! www.kansascity.com/opinion/read...
“Because millions of elderly and disabled customers the agency serves lack computers to authenticate their identity — and have limited mobility to access in-person help — the change will create hardships, a top agency official acknowledged” The GOP is cutting vital services that Americans depend on
The Social Security Administration announced new measures that will require millions of Americans who file for benefits by phone to verify their identity using an online system or provide documentation in person at a field office.
Abolishing a federal agency requires an act of Congress, period. President Trump and his cabinet of MAGA billionaires are attempting to illegally steal federal funding that support students, teachers, and public schools nationwide to fund another tax cut for their billionaire friends. It’s sinful.
President Donald Trump is set to sign a much-anticipated executive order Thursday aimed at closing the Education Department, the White House said, though administration officials have acknowledged that shuttering the agency would require congressional approval.
This public-private partnership will support the creation of cottage communities in #MO05, providing affordable single-family housing for low- and extremely-low income households as we work to end homelessness and strengthen neighborhoods across Kansas City.
After securing $750,000 to support ReStart Inc.'s efforts to expand affordable housing in #MO05, I was thrilled to join Executive Director Stephanie Boyer and staff from ReStart this morning for the official groundbreaking of their Thriving Neighborhoods Through Cottage Communities Project!
Prolonging this war will only lead to more death and destruction. I urge the US government to bring the parties back to negotiations, Hamas to release all remaining hostages immediately, and the Netanyahu government to stop blocking humanitarian aid and commit to negotiations to end the war.
As Prime Minister Netanyahu runs into political headwinds at home, it appears he is reigniting this conflict to the detriment of Israel, innocent Palestinians and hostages, and the entire region.
The Israeli military said it launched a “limited ground operation” to retake part of a key Gaza corridor. The move appeared to deepen a renewed Israeli offensive in Gaza, which shattered a ceasefire with Hamas.
President Trump and co-president Musk have recklessly shut down programs that increase access to nutritious school lunches for kids, support local farmers, and help keep food on the table for vulnerable families. It benefits no one but the billionaires who will reap the windfall of the #GOPTaxScam
U.S. farmers are staring down steep losses through no fault of their own. The Administration is hell bent on cutting farm program funding and starting trade wars – and farmers are paying the price. www.nbcnews.com/politics/eco...
The “effort to shrink the federal labor force is impeding work at government sites across the country and spawning unintended consequences for services Americans rely on.” Whether it's assistance with Social Security or obtaining benefits from the VA, these cuts are hurting our neighbors.
The costs of federal staffing cuts are piling up: Canceled programs for veterans. Reduced services at parks. Fewer advocates for disabled schoolchildren.
Raising costs on everyday goods and "liberating" Americans from their hard-earned pensions. President Trump’s policies are already threatening to destabilize the economy, and more Trump tariff taxes will only make matters worse.
White House aides are preparing to impose new tariffs on most imports on April 2, laying the groundwork for an escalation in global economic hostilities that President Donald Trump has called “Liberation Day.”
As President Trump and Republicans in Congress push the largest Medicaid cut in history, I visited a local dialysis center in #MO05 to meet with patients, doctors, and staff to highlight the devastating impact these cuts will have on our communities. #SaveMedicaid
With the permission of President Trump and congressional Republicans, Elon Musk is gutting departments that play a critical role in our national security, including those who oversee our nuclear stockpile. It’s beyond dangerous. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/17/u...
