My son Roman joined me at work today!
The governor is rejecting $450 mil meaning that 3.8 million Texas children will go hungry. He’s not acting alone. In Congress, Republicans are jeopardizing food assistance programs that help hard working Texas families put food on the table. It’s shameful. www.houstonchronicle.com/politics/tex...
The President took the United States to war with Iran without the authorization of Congress.
He claims the military operations were a success but is now refusing to brief the Congress or explain his actions in a timely manner.
Why is there a delay?
It was an honor to nominate eight students to attend our military academies. After demonstrating their academic ability and moral character, they will now join the many San Antonians who have served our nation.
Y’all are making us proud! www.ksat.com/news/local/2...
The Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision has harmed women across the country. Women deserve the right to make choices about their own health, future, and families. I’ll keep fighting to protect a women’s right to choose.
Americans don’t want another long, messy and expensive war. Instead of spending trillions on another war in the Middle East, we should invest in Americans and build out the infrastructure of opportunity here at home.
Too often Presidents mistake the initial acts of war as the conclusion to the conflict rather than the opening of a Pandora’s box.
That appears to be the case with President Trump today.
Juneteenth is a reminder of the dark stains on our nation’s history, but also what’s possible when we come together to do what is right—a day that honors not just the end of slavery, but our commitment to fight for freedom and justice for all.
We’ve made progress as a nation, but the fight to achieve true racial equality—and build an infrastructure of opportunity for every single American—is not over. It requires all of us standing together and staying united.
Today, on Juneteenth, we celebrate 160 years of freedom. I am proud that my home state of Texas was the first to recognize Juneteenth as a state holiday in 1980.
And as we witness the first days of the war between Israel and Iran, I feel we’re on the verge of making the same old mistake in a new war in the Middle East. Read my full statement on the Israel-Iran conflict here.
But that trust and goodwill has sometimes been abused by political leaders who sent our service members to fight in wars under false pretenses based on bad or biased intelligence.
No place, no city or community in our country has a monopoly when it comes to military sacrifice. Our service members serve because they believe in the values of our country.
Their participation in sectors like healthcare, energy, tech and more has enabled the Texas economy to boom. To gut the law is a mistake. Read my oped in the @dallasnews.com here: tinyurl.com/dmnoped
The Texas Dream Act has invested in Texas Dreamers and given them a fighting chance at achieving their dreams.
This is a good sign and could provide a path back towards a negotiated agreement—the only proven way to address Iran's nuclear program.
We must push for both Israel and Iran to de-escalate and for Iran to reenter negotiations that were disrupted by Israel's military strikes.

“We need a permanent legislative solution that includes protecting Dreamers….I believe they’re as American as all of us.”
June 15 is the 13th #DACA Anniversary. Thank you @joaquincastrotx.bsky.social for your leadership in standing with DACA recipients and Dreamers!
Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads out there! Fatherhood has been one of the greatest joys of my life.
If President Trump intends to get the U.S. more involved in the war between Israel and Iran by attacking Iran, he must come to the Congress, make his case, and secure an authorization before he pulls our country into yet another war in the Middle East.

I am also praying for Sen. John Hoffman and his wife Yvette, who were each shot multiple times. I pray for their healing and a full recovery.
This violence should be condemned by every American.

Alignment stats consider only votes where a clear yes/no majority existed for the legislator's party. Cross-party marks divergence where the vote matched the opposite party majority. ↔ indicates cross-party divergence.
