South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, Donald Trump’s pick for secretary of homeland security, got some heat for rattling off dubious statistics during her Senate confirmation hearing Friday.
As I mentioned earlier about @WBD, other conglomerates are likely to do anything to win Trump’s favor. Here’s a (possible) Paramount example.
Which media companies will actually have the courage to play it straight without kneeling to Trump?
Holy cow. Executives at CBS’s parent company have discussed settling Trump’s lawsuit against CBS News/60 Minutes, because they need the Trump administration to sign off on a planned corporate merger. www.wsj.com/business/med...
However —
We can solve these issues without banning an important platform for free speech & content creation.
If this TikTok ban came before the House today, I would vote NO again. 2/
I voted NO on the TikTok ban last year.
I serve on the House Intelligence & Foreign Affairs Committees, and I have three young kids at home.
I understand the national security concerns associated with TikTok and I'm also worried about the negative impact of social media for our kids. 1/
Jim Acosta’s rating are consistently among the highest at @CNN. Why put a top draw at 12-2am when no one is watching news?
It’s 3 yrs of bad decisions like this (directed by corporate parent WBD) that have cratered CNN ratings and demoralized their incredibly talented journalists and anchors. 2/2
Another cynical move by @WBD meant to preserve their ability to get Trump’s approval for any merger while he’s President.
Many big company CEOs bowing to Trump fear retribution.
They fear he’ll strip away big federal contacts or use the DOJ to block mergers or sales by their corporations. 1/
Scoop: As Donald Trump gets ready to take power, CNN boss Mark Thompson has informed Jim Acosta that he would like to move his show to the graveyard hours.

A new memo from ICE has been circulating in Senate offices that spells out the staggering cost of carrying out the bill if it were signed into law: $86 billion over three years, far exceeding House Republicans’ estimate last week of $3 billion per year.
Rest in peace to filmmaker David Lynch, one of the most creative, entertaining and non-conforming writers/directors in the history of American cinema.
This is one my favorite scenes from his move “Mulholland Drive.” Also watch the “Mystery Man” scene in Lost Highway.

Biden: "I want to warn the country of some things that give me great concern. That's the dangerous concentration of power in the hands of a very few ultra wealthy people and the dangerous consequences if their abuse of power is left unchecked. Today, an oligarchy is taking shape"
My office is always honored to attend services at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery for unaccompanied veterans, who passed away with no known relatives. All those who served our country deserve a dignified final goodbye.
I welcome reports of a ceasefire and hostage deal between Israel and Hamas, but I mourn for the innocent victims of this war, including the Israelis killed and kidnapped on October 7 & the tens of thousands of Palestinian civilians killed in Gaza.

This morning, my office was glad to attend a portrait unveiling for Judge Andrew Carruthers, who is retiring after more than half a century as a legal advocate and public servant. My office presented Judge Carruthers with a Congressional Record statement recognizing his dedication to Bexar County.
I am sending all my best to Bexar County Commissioner Rebeca Clay-Flores as she battles cancer. I am grateful that she's sharing her story to raise awareness and advocate for early screening and preventative efforts.

The CIA recently declassified 55 files on its surveillance of the Latino civil rights movement. The FBI is still holding out.
@joaquincastrotx.bsky.social and other lawmakers have asked Pres. Biden to intervene.
Hear my conversation with Castro.

"Video recorded by Ernesto Campos, a United States citizen, shows federal immigration agents detaining him after slashing his tires.
“I don’t know why he popped my tires, he already had my …,” says Ernesto Campos in the video.
“He had a reason,” answers an agent"

Maduro's actions today continue to undermine the electoral will of the Venezuelan people who voted resoundingly for Edmundo González. We must work collectively to support a democratic, just & peaceful outcome in Venezuela.

Alignment stats consider only votes where a clear yes/no majority existed for the legislator's party. Cross-party marks divergence where the vote matched the opposite party majority. ↔ indicates cross-party divergence.
