As I said yesterday, you cannot take the Trump Administration at their word. You have to watch what they do.
Do not let them fool you into thinking this is the end of their assault on Medicaid, SNAP, and other essential services.

Donald Trump’s latest unconstitutional and harmful act of pausing federal funding is the latest example that you cannot take the Trump Administration at its word.
You have to watch their actions.
A thread 🧵:
We face a tragic reality that we cannot trust the word of the President of the United States or members of his administration.
I encourage everyone to watch not what he says, but what he does.
What else might be stopped?
- SNAP
- Child nutrition programs
- Meals on Wheels
- The 988 suicide prevention hotline
- Head Start
We've heard conflicting reports on whether the above programs will be impacted. But again, you cannot take the Trump Administration at its word.
My office heard from a local organization focused on seniors who told us that, because of this pause, they are within one month of cutting programs.
I thought President Trump said he cared about seniors?
JD Vance said January 6th insurrectionists who attacked law enforcement should not be pardoned.
On his first day in office, Trump pardoned every single rioter, including those who violently assaulted police officers.

My office heard today from a local homeless shelter that they received notice from the Trump Admin to enter anything outstanding into their payment portal by 5 pm today.
They were locked out hours before the deadline, jeopardizing housing for over 200 people in our community.
The Trump Administration claimed in a revised memo today that the pause would not impact Medicaid.
Despite this, states, including Illinois, have been locked out of the Medicaid portal.

A thread 🧵:
Donald Trump's pause on virtually all federal funding is a harmful, unnecessary, and unconstitutional directive that has caused mass confusion.
It’s not yet clear which programs will be impacted. My office will provide updates as we have them.

On Holocaust Remembrance Day, we remember the approximately 6 million Jewish people and millions of others including political dissidents, intellectuals, Roma, and LGBTQ people murdered during the Holocaust.

Roe v. Wade was decided 52 years ago, recognizing a woman’s right to control her own body. Almost three years ago, it was overturned by the Supreme Court, and fundamental rights were stripped from millions. I am proud to keep up the fight to restore and protect reproductive rights.

Donald Trump believes it’s okay to assault police officers in an attempt to overthrow American democracy, as long as it’s done in his honor.
So much for the party of law and order.
