Gilbert Ray Cisneros Jr. is an American politician and former naval officer serving as the U.S. representative for California's 31st congressional district since 2025. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served as Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness in the Biden administration and was the U.S. representative for California's 39th congressional district from 2019 to 2021.

Donald Trump attempted to threaten, harass, and indict lawmakers for using their first amendment rights and encouraging troops to follow lawful orders. But they did not back down. Today, a grand jury rejected the bogus indictment. Trump can try and silence our voices, but we will not stop.

Today, I welcomed Buddhist monks to Capitol Hill as they near the end of their walk for peace. These monks walked 2,300 miles over more than 15 weeks to encourage unity, compassion, and gratitude. What a powerful demonstration of peace.
