Donald Trump is making our world less safe by freezing foreign aid that supports vital health programs, including malaria, tuberculosis, and AIDS treatment. He is setting back global health and abandoning American leadership on the world stage. Why? Because his billionaire pals want a tax cut.
Black History Month is a time to recognize the many powerful voices and stories of Black Americans throughout Colorado & our nation’s history. Our country is a better place because of the contributions of Black Americans.
Daniel L. Ritchie was a true friend, a visionary leader, and a pillar of our community. He rebuilt @uofdenver.bsky.social into a world-class institution and championed the arts with unmatched passion. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones. There will never be another Dan Ritchie.
Last night’s crash in Washington is absolutely devastating. My heart goes out to the victims’ families and loved ones. Grateful to the first responders and emergency personnel who rushed to the scene in the wake of this tragedy.
Simply put: this investigation by the Trump Administration is outrageous. This was a student-driven decision to make their school more inclusive. But Trump and his allies are using it to push their own political agenda & attack LGBTQ+ kids. Schools should not be a battleground for extremism.
The chaos will continue—that’s Trump’s strategy. He wants to flood the zone and divide us. But we must stay united to defend our democracy and I will keep fighting to protect our Constitution in Washington. Read my full statement on today’s actions from the Trump Administration. ⬇️
Trump said he wanted to be a dictator on day 1 & his actions prove he was serious. His Admin is testing the limits of presidential power, leading us down a dark road. Democrats came together to fight back against Trump’s illegal cuts – & while the dangerous memo was rescinded, our work is not done.
Trump’s action to pause most federal funding plunged our communities in chaos by illegally circumventing Congress’ power of the purse. The decision by the US District Court to suspend this action is the correct step to keep our communities whole, but it must be made permanent.
We do not have a king in our country, no matter how highly Donald Trump regards himself. Read my statement after the Trump administration froze virtually all federal funding ⬇️
Donald Trump’s reckless and unconstitutional action to freeze essentially all federal spending is going to hurt ALL Americans in both red and blue states. The American people did not vote for this. We do not have a king in our country, no matter how highly Donald Trump regards himself.
His administration is holding up Congressionally-approved bipartisan funding, and it’s going to make life harder for American families across our country and abroad. Just this morning, my office has received calls from a father who is concerned about if his daughter will be able to go to her HeadStart program tomorrow, a researcher at CU Anschutz who is worried about whether her work on life-saving treatments and cures will be able to continue, and a leader of an organization who won’t be able to pay his staff working to rebuild emerging democracies around the world.
Nothing about these latest actions will help to lower the cost-of-living for my constituents or anyone in the United States, and it will even worsen the affordability crisis we are experiencing. These actions set a dangerous precedent that erodes our system of checks and balances. The administration must reverse course immediately.
On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we remember the six million Jewish people who were killed during the Holocaust. We must continue our fight against antisemitism and ensure that the horrors of the Holocaust are never minimized or forgotten. #NeverAgain
Yet again, Trump is pardoning those convicted of violent crimes. Americans have had the right to visit abortion clinics—free from threats or violence—for over 30 years. As @reprocaucus.bsky.social co-chair, I will not stand by as Trump & the GOP bend the law for their own beliefs.
House Republicans want to gut Medicaid, which provides essential services for vulnerable Americans, to make people like Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk even richer. The American people deserve more than being shoved aside for the wealthiest Americans and biggest corporations.
Donald Trump promised to lower costs, but instead, he reversed Biden's executive order to lower prescription drug costs for Americans. Yet again, Trump is siding with special interests over Americans struggling with high drug prices. He’s not serious about tackling this crisis.
On his first day in office, Trump pardoned hundreds of felons who assaulted Capitol police officers. House Republicans welcome these violent criminals back to our streets. No one who respects law enforcement can support these outrageous pardons. It's a disgrace.
ACOSTA: Do you agree with Trump's decision to pardon violent people? REP. BURCHETT: If they were truly violent, no. But I don't know that? ACOSTA: What do you mean you don't know? We're showing the footage right now.
This is the reality of Trump’s destruction of Roe — even in states like Colorado that enshrined abortion access in our constitution, women feel deep uncertainty. As @reprocaucus.bsky.social co-chair, I won't stop fighting until reproductive freedom is federally protected & guaranteed for all.
The American people want bipartisan action to make life more affordable. Trump’s day-one agenda does nothing to lower costs for families. He’s stoking fear and chaos, and he’s showing his true colors by disregarding those who elected him. Read my full statement on Trump's Executive Orders.⬇️
She was fiercely committed to these issues until the very end, & we must continue in her example to stand up against efforts to strip away these hard fought rights. My thoughts are with Cecile’s family during this difficult time. May the love & respect she has left in all of us be a comfort to them.
I’m deeply saddened to hear of Cecile Richards’ passing. Cecile was my friend and a longtime champion for reproductive freedom who worked tirelessly to advance gender equality. Eight years ago, we stood side by side, continuing our fight for women’s rights.
