Earth Day reminds us: protecting the environment is protecting the economy. When we pollute our air, water, and land, we invite food shortages, higher prices, and job losses—just when middle and working-class Americans can least afford it.
Kris Lebron Romero, a Common Ground junior, calls her work “more than just a job.” Programs like Green Jobs Corps build skills and community. Cutting them hurts real people—especially with the rising cost of living. We must fund programs to help our youth and our neighborhoods.
Wishing a peaceful and reflective Easter to all those who celebrated. In these uncertain times, let us hold close to the promises of Easter; hope, renewal, and the promise of new beginnings.
Pete Hegseth is not a victim of anything except honest reporting and his own incompetence. He must be fired before he destroys the Pentagon from the inside.
Pope Francis reminded us of the rich history of the Catholic Church on social justice. He challenged global leaders to confront issues of injustice & inequality with urgency. His legacy will endure, & I’m praying for Catholics touched by his example. May he rest in peace.
Every hidden Signal chat is another blow to American security by the Trump Administration. Pete Hegseth isn’t just reckless—he’s a risk. One cover-up is bad. Two? That’s a pattern. He must go.
Over 32% of Americans rely on Medicaid to survive. We cannot sit idle while an unelected billionaire targets it. Here's who a $800 billion cut harms: ❌3.7 million children ❌540,000 low-income seniors ❌415,000 adults with disabilities Without Medicaid, Americans will suffer.
I am excited to mark a big step forward for Dixwell: a new 35,000 sq ft ConnCAT facility that will bring job training, housing, education, and more to New Haven. This is what it looks like when government and community work together to build opportunity.
The government has a responsibility to fight for the middle-class, the working-class, and the vulnerable. Instead, the president is raising the cost of living by pushing Social Security cuts and chaotic tariffs. My message to President Trump: Fight for us, not billionaires like Elon Musk.
If Republicans slash Medicaid, Connecticut will lose over $5 billion in federal healthcare funding. Who relies on Medicaid in CT? ✅283,300 children ✅73,900 adults with disabilities ✅68% nursing home residents Medicaid saves lives. I fight for CT families, not Musk.
Elon Musk and President Trump are targeting Medicaid, threatening 40% of kids, all disabled people, low-wage workers, & nursing home residents. These cuts would eliminate & endangers mothers and babies. All to pay for tax cuts for billionaires. We must fight back.
The expanded Child Tax Credit worked—improving kids’ health, education, and long-term success. The evidence is clear. I'm committed to restoring it and easing the burden of everyday costs like gas, groceries, and rent.
Over 708,000 people in Connecticut & 143,000 in CT-03 rely on Social Security. Rep. John Larson & I joined forces to stand against the dismantling of Social Security & the harm it will bring to millions of Americans. We have a duty to protect our constituents and their benefits.
President Trump claims Social Security benefits won’t be affected by his claw backs, but if he fires staff and closes offices for the SSA, how will people access their benefits? It’s already hard enough for Americans to get the support they earned.
I was honored to speak at the Whitney Center to address the alarming actions of the current administration. The separation of powers and congressional authority are essential to preserving our democracy. We must continue to speak up!
President Trump & his billionaire allies have continually attacked Social Security, claiming it's a Ponzi scheme. Social Security is nothing close to a scam: it is a lifeline for millions of Americans. Our seniors and disabled workers rely on this service to live. Hands off!
President Trump is defying the courts and shredding our Constitution by deporting a legal American resident, Kilmar Abrego Garcia. We demand proof of Kilmar’s safety and return and an immediate end to the horrifying banishment of legal residents to foreign prisons.
April is School Library Month—a time to affirm that every student deserves access to books that reflect our country’s full story. Thank you to our dedicated librarians for inspiring students to love reading and transforming them into lifelong learners.
Today marks two years since five Americans tragically lost their lives in the Louisville Bank Shooting. I will continue to fight in Congress to pass and uphold common-sense legislation to end the gun violence epidemic. Our communities must be safe.
