Elon Musk and President Trump have shut down dozens of Social Security Administration offices & cut phone services for claims. To find "fraud", they should add staff and field offices, not block Social Security recipients from receiving their earned benefits.
In less than one week, many Americans will no longer be able to apply for Social Security benefits over the phone, setting the stage for disruptions and upheaval. Nearly 6 million seniors live more than 46.6 miles, roundtrip, from a field office, per a new analysis. trib.al/5XSPqyL
A choropleth map of the United States showing the share of seniors who live at least 46.6 miles round-trip from the nearest Social Security Field Office. Rates are especially high in the Midwest and Great Plains states, with Montana (40%), South Dakota (45%), North Dakota (49%) and Wyoming (65%) topping the list.
If there’s one thing we know, it’s that the Trump Administration has no plan & no strategy. That goes for the economy, and that goes for the global fight against HIV/AIDS. I’m fighting to stand up PEPFAR and end the HIV/AIDS pandemic. youtu.be/MgyFrQxu1mg
Abbott’s pattern of cutting corners is shameful & ongoing. Unsafe practices & a revolving door at FDA between industry & regulators have bred a culture where bad actors face no accountability. This demands immediate oversight & consequences. Our babies' health is not optional.
The Trump admin's disregard for public health is alarming. Over 10,000 federal health workers fired. On this World Health Day, let's be clear: these actions harm public health & put our communities at risk. We should be strengthening health agencies, not dismantling them.
Today, the earnings of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander women finally reach last year’s earnings for a non-Hispanic white man. This is unacceptable—We must pass the Paycheck Fairness Act and demand equal pay and economic justice for AANHPI and all women.
It’s not just about scientists losing their jobs or damaging local economies their work supports — it’s about the health of thousands of Americans. These ruthless Republican cuts will put the health of Americans in danger.
The Trump admin cut the team that helps millions afford heat in winter & AC in deadly heat. People will suffer—all to fund billionaire tax breaks. Trump promised to lower costs for the working class, but he is making things worse.
President Trump and RFK Jr.’s irresponsible assault on the health system will lead to the deaths of Americans.   They fired experts researching cancer cures, substance use treatments, and infectious diseases.   Why? Billionaires want more money.

In today's Democratic Daily Download, Rep John Larson calls out Trump-Musk's attacks on Social Security. They're coming after your earned benefits. Today, we'll hear directly from Americans who are impacted by these cuts. We're fighting for families and seniors, not billionaires!
Firing 10,000 health experts doesn’t make America healthier—it makes us sicker. This purge guts disease response, disrupts life-saving research, and leaves us vulnerable to outbreaks. Who benefits from weaker public health? Not the American people.
Absolute BLOODBATH at HHS/NIH/CDC this morning. Generation of scientists, health care officials being wiped out t.co/LeABrGqDei
Democrats limited bank overdraft fees to $5. This would have saved consumers $5 billion/year, but President Trump & Republicans cater to Big Banks. They’ll let them continue to gouge consumers at the ATM. This will raise costs on middle & working-class Americans.
Donald Trump now says “couldn’t care less” if prices continue to rise. What happened to lowering the cost of living for the middle and working class? Instead, Republicans are cutting nearly $1 trillion from Medicaid, threatening healthcare for millions.
Last week, I joined local education leaders to discuss our fight for every child’s right to a quality education that powers their dreams. Our children’s future can’t be sacrificed for the interests of unchecked billionaires. I’m ready to fight for their future.
The Trump Administration is attacking free speech and due process in our nation. We must stand united against them in defending these core principles.
While I strongly disagree with their views, arresting & detaining individuals for their beliefs without transparency, denying them access to legal representation, & failing to disclose their whereabouts is a violation of fundamental constitutional rights.
