With Trump having boasted that he is “King of Debt,” his House GOP enablers are borrowing trillions more to assure new tax breaks for Elon Musk and billionaire buddies. I spoke out against this recklessness that endangers Social Security, Medicare, and other vital investments.
Last week, Paxton dropped his suit against Coppell ISD for "critical race theory" over a heavily edited, misleading video. Now, he's targeting Austin ISD. Instead of tackling real issues like teacher shortages and financial crises, he continues wasting taxpayer money on pandering & self-promotion.
In the years since a deadly opioid outbreak in Travis County, I've worked alongside local leaders to get federal resources to prevent and treat opioid abuse. With a decline in drug-related deaths, I won't stop fighting to help save lives and overcome GOP cuts to critical resources to our community.
Music is one of our great unifiers and is often at the forefront of change. Great discussion with my Senior Advisor, Sebastian de la Peña, and NAMM, highlighting the work I'm doing as co-founder of the Musicians’ Caucus to ensure music education and the arts are accessible to every community.
Great to join Women for Good Government, led by Mary Patrick, for a discussion of the tremendous harm inflicted by Trump and his gang, recent signs of hope, and what we can do to help. If you haven’t been able to attend a town hall, share your personal priorities at: doggett.house.gov/survey.
Netanyahu undermines Palestinian & Israeli futures, including his far-right gov abandoning hostages. Focused on starving Palestinians w/blockade of food, water & meds, he continues bombing schools, hospitals & refugee camps. Hamas' evil can't justify these wrongs, as most of the world stays silent.
Republicans are preparing to strip funds for communities to address environmental challenges and connect our neighborhoods. For Austin, this jeopardizes $105M for the City's Cap & Stitch portion from Cesar Chavez to Fourth Street. I spoke to CBS Austin about why I'm against the GOP's cuts.
GOP continues to attack education to fund billionaire tax breaks—now proposing to eliminate Pell Grants for part-time students and end affordable loan repayment, reserving higher ed for the wealthy few. Another shameful example of Trump putting his billionaire donors ahead of students.
Timely, accurate weather forecast keep us safe—when to take shelter from extreme weather and much more. Local meteorologists rely on the National Weather Service. Because of Trump cuts, families are now being endangered, according to the attached alarm coming from all living former NWS Directors.
Great to join Parents’ Climate Community, Ghisallo and Yellow Bike Project for Kidical Mass. Kids deserve clean air, safe streets, and a stable planet. Congrats to Eileen McGinnis and other parents for forming this new action group to address the impact of the climate crisis on our children.
Once again, Trump’s Budget puts working families last while further enriching his billionaire buddies. Educational opportunities, lifesaving medical research, domestic violence funds—all slashed. The winner? Elon Musk.
Pleased to meet w/former Amb. Dan Clune and the Mine Advisory Group about their vital work in protecting civilians by destroying landmines and unexploded bombs in places affected by conflict. The US must continue funding this lifesaving work that contributes to sustainable global peace & security.
For 2 months, Netanyahu hasn't allowed trucks with aid into Gaza—no food, no water, no medicine. Children too weak to walk from starvation. Families forced to choose which mouth to feed. Yet much of the world remains silent. Hamas evil cannot justify this ongoing devastation of innocent civilians.
