The effects of Trump's #ReverseRobinHood law are already starting to ripple through Philly. Because of the harsh cuts to SNAP food aid, vital healthy-living programs for low-income students and families will be forced to end this fall. That WON’T “Make America Healthy Again!”
3 years ago, the Inflation Reduction Act, which I proudly voted for, became law. This landmark clean-energy legislation helped create good-paying jobs & lower energy costs. Now as Trump and congressional Republicans rolls back this progress, hard-working Pennsylvanians are facing higher costs.
If the Trump administration rigs inflation & consumer price index reports, seniors will still have to pay higher prices - WITHOUT accurate cost-of-living adjustments to their Social Security benefits. Many will be forced to choose between paying for rent, food, and medicine.
Tweet from Bruce Bartlett: "Seniors should know that the COLA on their Social Security benefits is tied to the CPI. If the CPI is artificially reduced, as Trump wants, your benefits will be reduced."
In case you saw a weird Facebook ad - I want Philadelphians to know that I voted NO on Trump's budget bill. I strongly oppose this new law's massive cuts to Medicaid and SNAP- especially since the cuts are funding more tax breaks to the rich.
90 years ago, the Social Security Act was signed into law! Today, while Trump and his Project 2025 administration are trying to gut #SocialSecurity, I'm fighting to protect this earned benefit for millions of Americans, including over 126,000 recipients in PA-03.
Social Security card that says "126, 981 recipients in PA-03 rely on this critical program"
Trump’s choice to set Social Security cost-of-living adjustments called for ENDING this earned benefit! This administration, once again, is showing it never cared about protecting and strengthening this hard-earned benefit millions of Americans rely on.
Quote from interview with highlighted text: "Eventually you need to sunset the program."
While Trump just cut taxes for his billionaire buddies, prices continue to rise for everyday Americans. This back-to-school season, thanks to his reckless tariff scheme, families in Philly are paying more on everything from notebooks and pencils to new clothes and shoes.
This bill would strengthen pathways to health coverage, sending Medicare eligibility & enrollment information in Social Security statements to seniors nearing Medicare eligibility. Thanks to @repraulruizmd.bsky.social, @repschneider.bsky.social, & Rep. Bilirakis for co-leading this legislation!
The Senate’s action is too little too late. Pennsylvanians need real solutions. I am so grateful the #PaSenateGop finally acknowledges the looming crisis and the fact that we must #fundmasstransit, however we need to create sustainable revenue to avoid shutdowns now and in the future.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in Roxborough for my pop-up constituent services event- including @reptarikkhan.bsky.social! Next week, Team Evans will be at the Nicetown-Tioga Library and Philadelphia Zoo’s Summer Community night, then at the Queen Memorial Library the following week!
