Happy #IndependenceDay! Today, we celebrate the principles and the promise in our Declaration of Independence. Wishing all in #TX07 and across our country a safe and happy holiday.
It does not solve problems—it creates them, cutting funding for programs people in #TX07 and across the county rely on, raising costs for American families to pay for tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans, and increasing deficit spending by $3.4 trillion over the next ten years. [2/2]
The big, ugly Republican budget bill betrays the principles and the people of the United States. [1/2]
As the sun rises, Leader Jeffries is still speaking on the House Floor on behalf of House Democrats about why this big, ugly bill betrays American principles and the American people. Follow along here ⬇️
Just took to the House Floor to speak in support of a country where everyone can afford to live the good life.
And in strong opposition to Trump’s One Big Ugly Bill that is devastating to everyday Americans.
We will not be silenced.

Not only will the Republican budget bill take away health care and food assistance from millions of Americans—it will also take away incentives we need for energy innovation happening in #TX07 and across our Houston community.

CAPAC members stood united to offer an amendment to protect access to health care and food assistance.
Republicans refused to even "entertain" the idea.

As House Republicans try to jam through Trump’s One Big, Ugly Bill, @repdean.bsky.social has a simple question on today’s Democratic Daily Download:
Why would anyone vote for this terrible bill?
We are doing all we can to stop this big, ugly bill. During today’s debate, I joined @housedemocrats.bsky.social, led by the Congressional Black Caucus, to protect health care and food assistance for millions of Americans by trying to amend the bill. #KillTheBigUglyBill

This morning, I helped my friend @raskin.house.gov as he crafted this preamble for the Republican budget bill that makes clear what a contrast this bill is with our Constitution and what should be our guiding principles and highest ideals in Congress ⬇️
Back in Washington standing with my Democratic colleagues in opposition to the big, ugly bill, which the Senate made even worse. We only need four Republicans to stand with us to defeat the bill.

Every single House Democrat will vote no on Trump’s One Big Ugly Bill.
Keep the pressure on.

On today’s Democratic Daily Download, @ramirez.house.gov lays out how Trump’s One Big, Ugly Bill will take health care and food assistance away from working families while rewarding billionaires with tax breaks that explode the deficit.
As Vice Chair of the @equality.house.gov, I am working in Washington to protect our LGBTQI+ community in #TX07 and beyond and to ensure equality for all Americans.
Great to wrap up my #TX07 tour with my annual tradition of joining the Greater Houston LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce for a tour of a local business. This year: Native Citizen, where sustainable furniture meets #Pride.
LGBTQI+ kids are at higher risk for depression, anxiety, homelessness, and suicide. Tony's Place in #TX07 provides a welcoming, accepting space where teenagers can access services and support, and I was glad to visit with Tony's Place today. 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
Today is the last day of Pride Month. I was glad to be able to be home to visit a few places in #TX07 that are pillars of our LGBTQ+ community, starting with the Montrose Center, which has provided critical resources, empowerment, and support for Houston's LGBTQI+ community for almost 50 years.
I’m glad to team up with my @demwomencaucus.bsky.social colleagues to demand answers from Secretary Bessent on how the Trump tariffs are disproportionately harming women.

At recent town hall meetings, @repbonamici.bsky.social heard from Oregonians loud and clear: they're outraged by GOP's Medicaid cuts.
On today's Democratic Daily Download, she shares how Democrats are doing everything we can to fight these irresponsible and immoral Medicaid cuts.
