Starting off a bipartisan Congressional delegation trip — led by @rep-jeffrieshakeem.bsky.social — with a visit to one of our closest allies, the UK. Honored to meet with: the dedicated team at the U.S. Embassy London, Foreign Secretary David Lammy, & @commonsspeaker.parliament.uk Lindsay Hoyle.
The CFPB has put $20 billion back into the pockets of everyday Americans. Trump’s policies have done the opposite.
BREAKING: The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is firing 1,500 workers, and will soon have only about 200 remaining. That means the CFPB will be largely unable to carry out its mission of overseeing financial institutions and regulating companies that scam consumers.
Miracles happen at the Children’s Hospital LA every single day, but the Trump Administration’s cuts to medical research threaten their work. Thank you to CHLA for your tireless work to heal our children. I’m committed to making sure the miracles they perform can continue to happen.
Today is Earth Day. Despite the reckless rollbacks of environmental protections by the Trump Administration, I’ll keep fighting for clean air and water, for the protection of our biodiversity, and against global warming.
The City of LA has approved their $1 billion investment into the studio, which will have new stages and renovations across this historic campus. I’ll continue to work to make sure film and television productions stay where they belong: in LA.
I met with representatives of Television City and toured their historic facilities, where so many of our favorite TV shows have been filmed. I’m more committed than ever to ensuring that the entertainment industry, and the jobs it provides, stays local and healthy.
He spoke up for the poor and the forgotten. He challenged indifference and injustice. He reminded us to always live with compassion — and that love for our planet and one another is not optional, but essential.
Pope Francis was a moral voice in our world — a leader who brought humility, empathy, and courage to one of the most powerful roles on Earth. I come from a different religion, but I have long admired his deep commitment to peace, equity, and the dignity of every person.
Federal funding for brain, lung, pancreatic, & kidney cancer just got ZEROED OUT. Many patients receive their treatments through clinical trials – trials that Musk just cancelled. This is beyond sickening – and all but one Republican voted for it.
Proud to join 59 colleagues urging Secretary Rubio to end U.S. military aid to Azerbaijan. After the ethnic cleansing of Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh, we cannot reward Azerbaijan’s aggression. This echoes the horrors of the Armenian Genocide and I won’t look away.
Detaining & questioning a citizen for hours, purely because their client is a protestor, is an assault on the law & legal profession.   The federal government should never be in the business of punishing lawyers for representing clients & issues they disagree with.  www.freep.com/story/news/l...
I’ll tell you how I really feel: fired-up and ready to defend Social Security and Medicaid. This is about more than just policy. It’s about keeping a promise we made to the people who built this country and who have paid into Social Security for decades to protect their retirement.
Slaughter & Bedoya fought corporate abuse; cracking down on monopoly power, fraud, & data exploitation.  Trump is trying to fire them without cause, undermining the FTC’s mission to protect consumers. Congress has the authority to stop him; & I’m using it.
