Today in 1940, the first Social Security check was issued.

However, White House Press Sec Karoline Leavitt just confirmed the funding freeze pursuit will continue without any guidance or transparency.
Yesterday afternoon, a federal judge temporarily stopped the freeze due to its unconstitutionality. As a result of our pressure OMB rescinded their guidance about who would be directly impacted.
Later that morning, OMB released an update that any government funding that goes directly to individuals, like Medicaid and Head Start, would not be affected - but we immediately got reports that access to this funding was shut off.
On Tuesday morning, we got confirmation that Medicaid portals, SNAP food benefits and funding for first responders, among others were already impacted.
Late Monday night, we learned of a federal funding freeze from the Office of Management and Budget. It was unlawful and risked critical support for our country’s most vulnerable.
